2000 Eclipse Chip

I was wondering if there are any Preformance Chips avalable for the 2000+ Eclipse?

I have been searching this site and found some threads saying that there are no chips avalable for the Eclipse, well I was wondering if that is still true, because Venom has come out with a "chip" for the Eclipse.

Specifically the "chips" are called the Venom 400.

I was wondering if anyone has used them or heard of the thing before, I have heard about venom stuff for a few years now but I have never bought one.

This is what the Company's site says:

The Venom 400 performance control module is an add on control unit that features it's own micro-controller. This module is connected to the throttle position sensor and the Manifold absolute pressure sensor, and by monitoring the sensors output characteristics and modifying the input signal to the vehicles existing ECU.

Here is what you can expect using this product  :eek7:

* Improving horsepower up to 25% throughout the entire midrange 1,000 - 5,000 rpms

* The Venom400 is OBD II & OBD III compatible.

* The Venom400 has an on/off switch so smog certification is
possible without detection of unit.

* Easy installation with basic hand tools requiring only four electrical connections.

* Loss of gas mileage to be expected is 1-3 miles per gallon in fuel economy.

* No significant damage or long term stress side effects in long and short range testing.

* The Venom400 reduces the flat spots or delay timing during sudden accelerations.

Some people I talked to says that they sucked ass (only giving them a 2 hp increase) other people say that it gave them a 20+hp increase!

Maybe it just depends on the application? :sly:
They even have truck and SUV applications!

Even though it states on their site that it gives a
25% Increase in horsepower through the 1,000-5,000 rpm range

Here's the site:

http://www.venom-performance.com/

Just check out the top left window application selecter and select the Venom 400 System.

Anyway i just wanted to know if anyone has heard of them or tried them.

Thanks~

information i've received on that part is it only makes the accelerator seem more touchy, like...only pressing it halfway puts you at WOT and yields NO HP GAIN, their points of why their product is great is an average of all cars they have done

The venom 400 is a device which alters your throttle position sensor. If you push the gas in to 20%, it will feel like 45%. 50% will feel like 70%. Other than that, it does nothing.

I would like to see some independent testing done to confirm this, but I can say there is no way that adjusting the TPS can horsepower be gained. People can say all day that they gained horsepower, but all people usually know is that they push the accelerator down halfway, and the car is faster. No power was gained, but the throttle is open more. The only power gains that should count are the ones on a dyno. Other than that, hogwash.
