A do it yourself lift for a 02 pre runner

I have a 2002 pre runner and i was trying to figure out a way to lift it so my tires would stop rubbing. I got some tires that are a bit to big and needless to say when i turn to far in one direction they rub. So now I have got to figure out a way to lift my truck but i got alot of time so i wanted to do it myself.... if anyone has anytips please let me know.

If you just need some clearance then just add a leaf to it to get another couple inches. Save some money.

Im tellin ya, easiest and cheapest way to go would be to put a leaf on. Thats what i did when i put 33's on my 99 prerunner.

Shocks with helper springs are another alternative. Cost more though

Can't put leafs on the front....you need to do either a spacer, or adjustable coilover

Don't worry, that's why these forums exist! Basically the Tacoma uses coil-over's (coil-spring wrapped around a shock) up front and leaf-springs out back. My suggestion would be to use a 1.5" lift shackle for the rear because where and add-a-leaf will make the ride much stiffer shackles will maintain the factory ride and still add a small amount of lift. For the front, I would suggest a small lift spacer. Lift spacers simply bolt on top of your stock coil-over and make it taller to give a small amount of lift. This will also maintain the factory ride. I would go w/ 2.5" up front because that amount will sit close to level w/1.5" of rear lift. All said and done you could do this in your driveway in one day for about $300 or less. Click the links below for more info.
