I'm thinking of buying a 1998 Mustang, however there is considerable damage to the passenger side door (probably needs replacing) and a few other minor dents. Anyone want to venture a guess as to how much this might cost me to fix? I can get a very good price for the vehicle but would need to buy it before I could get estimates done.
thanks!

are you talkin about takin it to a body shop or doing it yourself???if your talkin about takin to a body shop i would say around 1000 bucks as a estimate if they supply the door etc...2 guys auto body charged our insurance 2500 to replace a door fender and hood on a jeep grandcherokee.. but they did some good as work..paint matches exact

if you can salvage the window, and get a door from junkyard, your looking at a lot less (doing it yourself ofcourse) Then if you need it painted or whatever, goes up from there.

Almost any ding that has to be fixed and painted at a decent body shop runs about $500 so use that as your base. Think the cost of a door from a junkyard $200+ then the work to sand it down mount it and paint it will equal around $700. Then he said there are a few other minor dings so just say another $500 for all of them and your at $1200. Then the $1,000-2,000 is just for vary prices per shop.

I work closely with a yard and a body shop near my house, and they have several doors for your year for $250 (they will need glass, motors, panels). If you are comfortable with putting in a window, and sanding it yourself then find someone that can paint well you might be able to take car of the door yourself for around $400-500 (depending on color). Then depending on how bad the other dents are, and whether or not the body shop will let you do the work yourself you could finish the other part of the project for about another 200-300. But you might have a hard time finding a shop that will let you work on your own car.
