I know that the Avalanche gets decent reviews but I really don't trust reviews and magazines. I like to hear from people who actually drive them. How is the Avalanche really? I mean what do those of you who drive them find to be their good and bad points. And more importantly to me, how do they hold up in light offroad conditions (field's a little wet when you're driving down to your hunting spot, etc.)? I suppose if I keep asking questions like this I will be labeled as curious. Oh well... I am.

My wife has a 2wd Z66 and its a decent truck. The only complaints are that it boats a little bit and the tailgate needs to eb adjusted. AS an offroad vehicle... it has an obvious better balance because of its design than a pcikup truck. It has better traction than my HD 2500 also 2wd. It also tows fairly well. I have a heavy toy box that we load motorcycles in. It hauled it very well, but now I use the 2500HD for that.

I've had my Avalanche since January 2004 (Z66). I've done some light off road driving, and it handles wells. The gas mileage is much better than I would have thought. Overall, I'm very pleased with my Avalanche.

I just got my Avalanche last Friday and it's awesome! I love it. I have been driving a 2500HD Silverado for the past 2 years. I went to trade for a 4 door 2500HD and ended up buying the Avalanche. Awesome ride! I bought the 2004 Z66 2 wheel drive.
