well as i stated before i went to the track on sunday,,,,,i couldn't have asked for a better day it was freezing, sunny .......perfect drag racing weather...i get there first thing i do is get rid of the spare and drop my tire pressure to 25 i line up i let it out at about 5000 and wound up with a 2.2 60foot which wasn't bad i felt pretty good about the launch considerign my cousins b15 sat there a bit spinning i'm pulling on him pretty good 1st and second then here he comes.......Hard! i wind up with a 16.2 @ 84 and he get's a 15.9 @86. Well here's my problem , as i stated in the maintence thread a couple of days ago my idle has been kind of weird. It sometimes drops very low then comes back up. It does this about once a minute. Well the day before my check engine light came on. Does the computter retard timing or run rich or something cause i know for sure i should have pulled at least a 15.9. when i ran at englishtown in the summer i ran a 15.9 @85 i even got to 4th gear and yesterday i didn't even finish out 3rd. oh by the way it's a 00 p11

Your trap times are within 1 mph that's what you need to really look at. There are too many factors that could effect your actual time. Like a missed shift, 60ft time, etc. You only ran once?

i ran twice and the second time i ran a 16.2 again but my 60 ft was 2.3 and my mph was 83,,,,,,,,but my question is when the check engine light is on does the car go into some sort of slow mode or something....?

I have this same problem. My Check engine light is on and my idle is messed up just like yours. Sometimes when my idle acts like that my car just flat out dies. My car will start up right away though. My car is right at 30,000 miles so i am going to have the it checked out when i have my 30,000 mile check.

I don't think the check engine light makes the ECU put the car in "slow mode", but if the light is on you're definitely not running at full power. If everything was hunky-dory your check engine light wouldn't be on. Unfortunately, the check engine light can be caused by a lot of different stuff. Just take your car to the local Infiniti dealer and have them check the error code being given by the computer. It'll only cost you a little bit of money and you'll know *exactly* why the check engine light is on.

If anyone is taking odds, i'm betting on a bad O2 sensor...

that's funny cause i'm almost at 30, 000 too i'm gonna go in for my service next week but guess what the idle is still a little shaky but my check engine lightt has been off for a aday or so but it did that the other day too so it will probably go back on

Remember that your MPH shows the car's power and the time shows the driver (within reason of course). So that first race, the guy just out drove you. That sort of MPH is about what I would expect from a stock car.

Post your whole timeslips up and I can take a look and tell you where you need to improve. I'm a good drag racer. (11.8 @ 119.7 in my GSX :) )
