integra gsr or integra type R????

should i get a GSR ( put an intake, exhaust, turbo kit) , or should i go all out and find an integra type R (put an intake and exhaust) I would love to have a type R, but they are expensive and very very hard to find around the louisiana area, but my dad lives in arizona, so i may be able to find one out there and just drive it back home to louisiana. Opinions needed very badly, i don't want to make a bad decision and lose all of that money b/c this will be my first car, and i want it to last a while and haul ass. thanks

umm.. well, I chose the GSR because everyone I talked to here said that you can get more gains off of less mods on a GSR.

They're easier to work with, and they have a sunroof too!
my GSR beats a lot of Type-R's with I/H/E and thats basically all I have too (except the JDM GSR ECU)... but I just prefer GSR, and thats why I got one!

i would go with the Type-R. You can get a turbo kit for it, the Drag Gen. III. It handles better than the GSR, looks better, and comes with nicer features. Like the interior, close ratio transmission, high compression pistons etc. also, the GSR is to generic....the Type-R sets you apart from the rest of the teg owners. good luck

Last time I remembered you don't want high compression with Turbos ;)....

I know a person personally with a civic with a turboed jdm type-r motor, she won't give me the details exactly on it because she races it and doesn't want poeple to know exactly what she has. But I do know she was only running around 8psi, and stripped interior, and was running 12s. And there wasn't a lot more she could do without spending CRAZY money.

Type-r Motors are not good for turbos especially if you wanna run HIGH boost. If your gonna boost high, go with a Gsr!

you cant run high psi on a gsr either, most hondas aren't made for running high amounts of pressure. you can still do it, but your motor gets put under stress. and high compression pistons dont affect things ALL that much. and clate, your kinda wrong with your comment on ITR's aren't good to turbocharge. it all depends on if you do it right. drag turbo's are turbos especially made for the ITR, and are street legal. They are high quality kits, and work very well. so, teg#1, i would go with the type r, despite clates somewhat misleading comments. best of luck

the reason why I didnt talk greatly about doing it is because you have to be very careful with turboing a type-r. Why do you think there are very few turboed-type-r's that last a long time? I know a guy running 22psi I think is with a gsr engine. I know a lot of other people with turboed gsr's, but only know of 2 turboed type-rs. Also a lot of people recommend you don't turbo a type r. I'm not saying don't do it, just be careful. I never knew that drag turbo made a street legal for the type-r. I know that drag turbo makes high quality kits, I have a friend looking to get one for his LS motor. Sorry if I was just saying dont do it type-r's hate turbos they don't but just becare with it.

Thanks for the info, when i get a car, i prolly won't mess with turbo's for a while b/c of the budget...I would like to get a Type R but i can't even find GSRs around here in Louisiana.

It would be better to turbocharge a B18C1, rather than a B18C5. The B18C5 already has a higher compression ratio than the B18C1 and to turbocharge that requires lowering that ratio.

get a type r then over-size the pistons to 84mm(will lower you comp ratio) then turbo it and your car will definatley be fast

i think that if i had the green to buy a type r i would just buy a low miles ls and mod it to hell. If you buy a type r, light mods dont do shit and the compression on that engine is way to high to turbo it. Id hate to hear about someone who spends all their hard earned dough and ends up with a blown engine. The money you can save buying an ls will allow you to insall all the jdm goodies you want--especially the jdm front end conversion. But hey opinons are like assholes, just check some of the posts. good luck

If you buy an LS you will NEVER have an ITR. Unless you weld a new roof on that takes away the sunroof.

Do you really know all the differences of an ITR and an LS?

Why would you buy a low mileage LS? Buy a mid-high mileage since your going to be replacing basically EVERYTHING with new parts if your trying to convert to an ITR look a like. I would buy a salvage Integra anyways because you'll never get your money back so why spend more in the beginning?

i have a jdm type r in my del sol. i am planning on going with a turbo. your best bet is to ask people on itrca.com they have a whole bunch of guys running boost on stock internals. they all talk about inlinefour head gaskets, with block guards on a good tune one guy running 7psi hiting like 250 to the wheels that is impressive check them out
