hey guys!
i recently bought a 2001 nissan sentra XE, and the brakes and rotar were messed up at the dealership so they promised to replace them. now that i have my car home, i am kinda worried caz everytime i go over a speed bump, traintrack, or uneven road i hear a sound from the front tires, its like air is coming out its like pssss pssss, i stopped and pushed my cars front up and down and kept hearing it, i put my fingers on the tires and no, they are not releasing air. what else could it be?
plz reply asap
thanks a million,
regards,
salman

are you sure that the valve stem on the tire doesnt need replaced? it would be hard to tell if your losing air just by touching your tire, use a tire gauge to see if you are losing any air...

could be a strut.....an extreme case though....just a possiblity.

if the light only comes on when you're turning the key to start the car then it is just because when you put your key in the run position, even if the car is not running, all of your gauge lights should be on, then if you start the car and it goes away you should be fine.. unless it is flashing, then i dont know what to tell you.. but it is normal for all of your warning lights and stuff to come on right when you start the car....

I have the same problem with my 2001 sentra gxe. It seems like it's the shock/strut that's making the "pssss" sound (almost like air being forced out somehow). Can anyone else can help us out with this problem? I hope it's nothing major.

let me know if you find out what is wrong. but i do not think it is a major problem, the thing is that it kinda gets annoying after a bit.

My stock struts did that when I hit speed bumps after a year and a half of being lowered. I don't seem to remember it when the suspension was stock, but that was so long ago that I can't really remember. Anyway it never caused any problems per se, but the struts were blown to holy hell by the time I took them out. Whether them being blown caused the hiss or vice versa (or if they're not even related at all) I couldn't tell you. If yours hisses when you hit bumps then it could be one or both of the struts, but if yours hisses while just driving smoothly down the road it's definitely something else.
I do know that my Teins don't hiss though :)
