I went. Didnt meet anyone there from this board, but met some guys from other forums I have "known" for 4 years and never met. Always cool.

Joe and I both picked up shortblocks less than 2 weeks before the SO, so I think it goes without saying that it would be a miracle if we got things ready in time. We both worked right up until about 4 hours before leabing for the 12 hour trip to Ohio ;) Both cars ran ok and didnt break. Joe drove there and back, with no major breakdowns. Just some bad plugs, and an intake pipe that came off the turbo.

I'll cut and paste some of my posts I made to the local forum for now, they just about sum it up. For reference, the Mike Rizzotti I mention always getting lined up with is the car whos pic I posted with Shepperds old Hoosier tires, Rota wheels, and suspension, in another thread. Its also the car that takes out that vette in the popular vidoe I have on the POSr site. A good friend of mine, but I'm tired of racing him :D

Racing stuff, lets see. Got the new motor in at the last minute, and trailered the car out with about 6-8 miles on it. Saturday I changed the oil, and dissasembled and cleaned the AGP turbo filter. I didnt see anything in it though. Wether the Pure1 filter is just really doings its job, or the two 5 pound pull magnets in the oil pan are working, or Edgar just builds clean motors, the oil and filters looked good (never had the balls to check shaft play though). The CV boot I got is a POS, so I redid that again. Then it was off to Bushurs and driving around in general to get mileage on the motor. Burned up all my gas making pulls with one of the SBR boys. That night, with ~120 miles on the motor, I intended to put in the race gas and get a rough tune down. Instead I opted for a night of getting crapfaced and enjoying the activities. Bad move

Drove to the track sunday morning and the car felt decent. A first pass of 12.007 at 119.7 on a very conservative setting gave me a little hope. Boost was only 23 psi so I decided to turn it up. Only problem was I had the MBC backed all the way out. I didnt think it was even on the spring. So I cranked that bad boy down. I'm starting to think that even backed all the way out, it was still giving me the 23 psi, not the WG spring etc. Next pass, another 1.7, and the 35 psi guage wrapped to the pin in first and fowled the plugs before the shift. Had to limp to a 34.9 at 20.8 mph, the car wouldnt even run. As usual, by the time I get the slip the plugs are cleaned off enough to run normal. Turned the MBC down a few turns and got in the lanes for Eliminator.

They ran full lanes rather than pairing us up side by side. So I was either going to get Leon (in front of me) or Rizzotti (behind me), and Joe was behind Mike. I would rather have had Leon since I knew his car was acting up, but just like last year and several local Import events, Rizz and I line up yet again No broken Tcase this time, with those tires Mike was gone by the time I broke the beams with a measly 1.71. By half track Mike had 3 mph on me, and 7 tenths. Just as mike missed 4th gear, my knock CEL lit up and I got out of it. Boost was still well over 30 psi. I coasted through to a 12.07 at 110 to Mikes 11.3 at 120.

Since I got Mike, Joe got a slower car behind him and advanced to the next round. He beat the car in the second round, but due to a bad reaction time lost the race. Then it was watching and getting rained on the rest of the afternoon. Later on we decided to leave the Sausage Motel behind and head off into the cornfields looking for some females.

NEDSM wasnt part of any of the events that brought the cops in, naturally. So I dont see the point in harping on that stuff for the next two weeks like we do after every SO. No need to be drama queens. I had fun watching the other groups doing their thing. It was a good time, good memories, and no regrets. I'd rather talk about the fun we had...

Some Hotel fun, eluded to above. I guess the Hotel knows it wasnt us, and we are still welcome back for yet another year :D

These are some of the special events we had at the econolodge this year.

1) Full scale waterbox for burnouts, just past the office. No one was allowed to escape without a smokey burnout, not even MILFs with station wagons.

2) Fireworks for everyone. Even skipping sideways along the ground towards a bunch of DSMs with fuel/oil leaks, and hitting the fleeing suspect in the ass as he made for the hills when the cops arrived.

3) Broken beer bottle all over the parking lot

4) Drag races between chipped turbo diesels and pocket bikes

5) Several drunk men molesting/teabagging/drilling-for-oil/ankles-to-ears/viking-war-helmet/donkey punching, and otherwise abusing a stuffed animal Chris Blanc rolled in with. It was seen the next day hunched over a trash can hoping it doesnt remember the events of the night before. These events did result in the eventual homocide of the bear, the stuffing was knocked out of it, so to speak. Thats what happens when a female stuffed animal shows up to the Sausage Motel on shootout weekend...

6) AWD burnouts in an unknown white styrofoam-pellet-like substance (see number 5)

7) Some guy dropped a mean deuce, took a picture, and tried to show it to everyone all weekend

All in all, I think it was the best SO yet as far as Hotel fun goes, even if the actual event got rained out. Nothing beats the POSR trip to the stripclub sunday night though (names of other members not given to protect the innocent). Everyone was expecting to see a bunch of toothless farm girls playing hide the corncob, but they were all hot much to our surprise. Credit goes to the horny old man at the Econolodge counter for the info.

Forgot to add:

8) Stunt doubles running head first into the bushes at ramming speed, Jackass stylee

9) A certain individual who wasnt very impressed with his rental car would stand on the roof, hang sausage, and piss all over it whenever he had to go. Always good for a round of cheers. Later the next day it was taken to the Cheerleader carwash for a quick clean-up...

So a decent event over all. No tranny swaps in the hotel parking lot, or other typical stuff. More relaxing than past years. Trailering my car out helped, it was a relief to know it was there if I break or Joe breaks (what if we both broke?). But it was expensive. Burned through about 200 dollars in Diesel, and the Dually porks you on the tolls, at least 100 total. The room was more than I expected as well. Worth the money though. I have another 52 weeks to recover before next years events :) There are also 3 pages of new posts, no way I'm going to be able to catch up unless I get REALLY bored later. Just too many. If anyone has something importnat that hasnt been resolved yet and think I may be of some help, just shoot me the link in a PM.

Good to be back home...

I knew it would turn up eventually! The Me vs. Rizz shot. I should put it on my site next to the one from last year. Same car, just has the hoosiers on it now.

Just got a sandwich and sat down with the 2002 Shootout video I mentioned somewhere on here. Not bad! My car looked WAY better back then, but it had 10 pounds of vinyl on it, and was running high 12s... Nice launches spinning all 4 too. If those bastards had my name, I would have at least been in the awards segment. I cant wait to see the DVD for 2003 and 04.

Sounds like a fun time. So many DSM's!!! Does anybody know the fastest posted time at the SO?

The number one qualifier was Bushurs yellow Conquest, Kevin Lawsons car. Yeah, the one that took me out in round two at last years Summit Sport Compact National event last year :D It qualified with a low 9. Probably would have run an 8. Kevins white FWD was running 9s, as was the local Bruce Ks "Mighty Mouse," bushurs original RWD car. He ran a 9.89 with some issues.

Some of the typical fast guys werent running, like shep. And I dont think turbo trix ran their Evo either.

He was at a points race in Florida ;)

Just found a couple pics on modified mags websites. None directly of my car but a few shots in there none the less. One with the tow vehicle at the hotel too, where they show some of the burnouts I mentioned above.
