New Chrysler 300

I was cruising down the highway in Michigan/Indiana and this new 300 came flying by behind me at about 110 mph. I moved to the right, let him pass, moved back into the fast lane and floored it. I stayed right behind him. He was held up by slower traffic in the fast lane.

When the slower car merged to the slow lane, he gunned it and I was right behind him. We stayed even the whole time, noone was gaining on anyone up to 120 and we had to slow down beacuse of traffic.

He moved to the right, let me pass and then moved back into my lane. I was held up by slower traffic again, but as soon as it opened up I gunned it. I never even put it in SS (it was in D5 the whole time, it was too early in the morning to race) I never turned VSA off (probably didn't matter at the speed we were going) We stayed even and I started pulling a little, but not by much at all. Those few runs were all up to 120. The 3rd and 4th gears are dogs in my car.

I have no Idea if that was the Hemi or the 6 cylinder one. I wanted to see how we'd do right next to each other but we never got the chance and that maniak kept going 110 the whole time while I slowed back down to 80.

6 cylinder has 250 hp and weighs 300 more pounds than the 01 CLS, the HEMI has 340 hp, 390 lb-ft torque but weighs 500 more pounds. I'd imagine the HEMI wouldn't be as good in higher RPMS.

The fastest run high 13s stock.

Anyone ever race one?

Oh and the whole time this older model Eclicpse with rims, intake and an exhaust tried to keep up with us but fell way back each time. It didn't have a badge.

BTW, I drive a 01 totally stock CLS. Springs and shocks have arived. Still waiting on the Icebox from CCC.net and I'm still debating on which headers to get.

Hope it was the Hemi, that one should be able to keep up with your CL. I think that you would have dusted the 6 cyl model.
