I am no longer a basshead, but back when I was, I had 4 15s in my Golf.. I never competed because I would have to run Pro Class (as I am employed at Cartunes), but my lil Golf managed to hit 150.6 anyway, without deadlining

Now I'm building a SoundQ car

my buddies ride almost hit 150 dBs... not too bad, he only has 2 subs though

i was never into SPL.. ive always been more of a SQ guy.. as a matetr of fact, im a hard core SQ guy :)

but, in my last system i had a pair of eclipse 8715's getting 600 watts a pop, id estimate that it did about a 140-143 .. but i never listen to music that loud..

my next system is gonna run of either a single, or maybe 2 PG cyclones..i just want the cleanest bass the world has to offer :) and those cyclones are just about it..

but, anyway.. nowadays, you can hit over 150 with a single sub.. something like an atomic thunder "mouse" 15 will definately do 150.. hell that thins will take 5 kilowatts rms and supposedly close to 9 kilowatts peak.. it also goes in a massive 10 cubic foot box.. lol.. but still its badass..

Nice. Yeah there's some crazy stuff out there right now, I remember when the Soundstream SPL170 was the top of the top :D It's still an awesome sub though
My personal fav is the Focal Utopia 15 :) It's got everything I need, and hopefully I'll be running one this year sometime

Personally, I don't think volume matters as much as quality. I'm not saying I like quiet music, but you can only use so much volume. A good sounding system is way more impressive than massive subs and crappy sound quality. I hate it when the subs sound like they are 3 miles away, and the sound isn't crisp.

I like subs that you can hear 3 miles away:) Thats my goal for my car, or just something that will rattle all the cars around me:)

I like both SPL and SoundQ, and to me SPL is something you can grow tired of, while SoundQ you never get tired of :)

142.4 with 2 Concept PT 12's running off a CC2002 amp. The subs were in a prefab box that wasn't their proper enclosure. I now have a CC1500 class D amp and it hits alot harder but I haven't had the car metered with the new amp. I competed in one show (even took 3rd in my class :) ) but it was enough to make me know for sure I don't wanna get into serious competition....sitting around all day sucks :p

If I wanted to go out and get the sponsors and everything, I'd think about doing it professionally. But it's just too much after a while.

In my '99 Cav, with 2 Kenwood 12s and a JBL 180.2 amp I managed to 140dB but then my deck maxed out.

I am definitely an SQ guy. I have a hifonics Zeuz GEnX pushing like 1000 watts into2 12W6's. It measures around 135-140 dB - More than enough.
