I need to change the struts on my camry and I would like to save some $ by removeing the assemblies front and back and take them into a shop and let them do the compressing can this be done and if so how, and how difficult is it going to be. Well I am still at it, is there anything else with the strut assembly that should get replaced. hope to keep the car for a few more years!!!

y do most of the work to have a shop do an easy job for u? all u need to get is a spring compressor from an auto parts store. many lend them out. all they require is a small refundable deposit.
im about to replace the struts on my 92 le and im gonna do it all myself. pretty straight forward job. one tip i havent tried yet is to loosen the top nut that holds the spring while the strut assembly is still in the car.
depending on the condition, you might wanna replace the strut mounts.
