how bad is this tire situation....

ok, somehow i got a leak in my left rear tire and i heard it the other night. so i ran and bought some puncture seal. threw that in there but when i use a pressure guage it doesnt even read 10psi or whatever the lowest reading is. i have new rims and tires and i plan to put them on march 1st or so hopefully if the weather permits... but how bad is it to drive around with an underinflated tire. i'm scared to put more pressure because what if the tire explodes!? puncture seal might not be too helpful not to mention its only meant for temporary use.

just go to a tire shop and get a plug in it for 5 bucks or is the hole on the sidewall.

i'm not sure where the hole is, but the problem is, it takes 20 minutes just to get my car up on a lift (try not to scrape the bumper etc etc) low civic lol

they just jack up the car take out the wheel and they put it in a tub of water to find out where th hole is and then they put a plug in it.

take it to discount tire or goodyear. They'll fix it in 5 minutes

Man, I feel ya on the lowering problem....I realized that I couldn't pick up my little sister from school one day cause I couldn't go over a speed bump

well... my family owns 'blj automotive aka tire country' as it was once called before we bought it. so i have no problem getting to a shop. and a shop with tire knowhow for that matter. good to have mechanics in the family. but i have to get my oil changed/exhaust fixed/ and rims installed at some point. so can i just wait and hope for no explosions?

fuck speedbumps. i carry a pick-axe, sledgehammer, and a few pounds of TNT in my trunk for those pesky speedbumps. i could be serious. i remember a friend of mine knocked a chunk out of one in his apartment complex so i could pick him up without trouble. i dunno how, but i know it was gone about a week or two after the first scrape. sucks.. but fuck it. i park 6 miles away to avoid speed-bumps if need be.

Did you put air in the tire after you put in the 'punture seal'? If not, pump that bad boy up! If you did you may have a problem with the valve stem. (could be your leak).

For future reference (I know you said that you are putting on new rims and tires) NEVER USE 'PUNTURE SEAL'! You will NEVER be able to properly balance that tire, again. What happens is the sealant dries on the tire and causes the weight distribution to be thrown off. Even if you get it rebalanced...you may still feel a vibration. That stuff just make a huge mess and makes it difficult to repair the tire.
