What do you guys recommend for removing stubborn bug parts from a recently painted bumper? I don't want to risk farging up the paint with a bug & tar remover, unless I know it will be safe.

Turtle Wax makes a bug & tar remover thats clear coat safe and doesnt take off your wax.. ive used it on my new paint job several times and it doesnt hurt it at all...If that doesnt work you can always try a detailing clay

That's the stuff I have, I was worried about using it because my paint is enamel acrylic.... but I guess I'll try it anyways. I'll try a spot that's out of the way before I go gung-ho across the face of the bumper. Thanks for the response, if bug & tar remover doesn't work I'll definately try a clay bar.

.... use it with a quick detailer right?

Quick detailer? not sure what that is.. just grab a box of Clay Magic at an auto part store.. that has the clay and lube with it

quick detail or "cheaters spray wax" only real function is to be used as a lube for clay bars. PH balanced car soap works better than quick detailer. Wait a few weeks before rubbing on the new paint unfortunately the bugs may warp melt the clear coat surface which could be cut out but hopefully the new paint doesnt before the guts are removed. If the paint is over 3 days old , use mean green cleaner or k&n filter element cleaner and spray on your wet down bumper let stand wet for 2 minutes and pressure wash strips from lower to higher , the bugs will come right off if they dont the first time redo the process but always rinse untill the detergent is no longer making white foam when bein sprayed with the water. Use Paint conditioner then a sealant after the bumper is dried , this will help imensly but do not leave the product sprayed on for more than 2 minutes at a time. Sodium Metasilicate , the main ingredient in those cleaners volitile if used by the dark side but when you follow those instructions youd have no clue how bad of damage the S.M. could cause in the paint because you will never give it a chance to do those negative effects. NEVER apply cleaners , wax's in direct sunlight even has adverse effects with car soaps if they are applied in the sunlight so try and work under artifical lighting or shaded area also allow the paint to cool down before spraying the metasilicate.

This might sound funny but use a wet clothes dryer sheet and just wash over the area where the bugs are. Works great.

The dryer sheet needs to be the thin white material not some of the types that are like thin foam. I believe the one I use are bounce (orange box)...

Yeah, the wet clothes dryer sheet does indeed work. I've used it on a number of occasions.

Wow what a neat way to remove bugs wonder how that was figured out? My boss will look at me funny when I ask for a PO# for bounce dryer sheets lol Im gonna give it a shot come spring even though it will cost more than my cleaners. This way I have something to suggest for my customers to use instead of giving away product. Thanks.

I did not belive it either when I first heard about it years agos on another forum. I tried it and I was surprised how well it worked. I always keep a small box with a bottle of water in the back just in case of an emergency droppage from a bird. Can't let that dropping stay on for too long or it will eat away the clearcoat/paint.

Sometimes its the simpliest things that work. Strange but true.

lol pigeon shooting , maybe if we put diapers on them they wont make such an effort to bomb our cars lol I got a suggestion for when you go on long trips. For peace of mind I would suggest "paint sealants" if you use a good paint sealant the bird turds will never hurt your paint finish if it still does then your sealant was no good. I use a sealant that isnt Mikey Mouse , it lasts for years and bird poo and bug guts will NEVER hurt the finish EVER!! The longest I seen this product last was 5 years and the finish still sheets off water and still had a glossy shine. The truck that the shine lasted on for 5 years always got super muddy and went for months at a time without washes. When it was traded in the first thing I noticed about the truck was how the black paint underneath the mud still shined. When I rinsed it the water just kept sheeting off and when I cleaned and dryed the paint the finish was amazingly good for goin through such a hard life.
The truck did not require a reapplication it was ready for resale the way it was. Anyways the sealant is called "Pearl Guard" and is made by "Pro Tec Seal" manufacturing. I know alot of detailers in here will most likely disagree with the performance of this sealant but in my opinion as a professional detailer this is an amazing product. I dont get any benefits telling you about it I dont get a comission Im not selling it , I use it and was involved in testing and devouloping it. The product I applied 5 years ago on the truck was a lighter formula , the new formula is much better. This product comes with a life time warranty against UV and paint fading and I give every customer a easy to follow cleaning method to keep it looking perfect for many many years to come. I tell alot of people this sealant last for 10 years but I have to rethink that , I think it can possably last alot longer than that. Please dont bash me as this may be untrue to most but try it and see then let the bashing commence.
