Okay, im planning on swapping the engine out of my CRX for something more high performance. I want a JDM engine. I was wondering what you think would be the best performance. I dont wanna go cheap, but I dont wanna empty my wallet. What engine would be the best? and how much would it cost? and are there lots of upgrades available. thanks, i appreciate it.

i'd go with the B16 or the B18. I personally think the H22 is a little big for a CRX.
the B16 is easily fixed up. as with the B18. The B16 drops right in. no big hassle unles you have and HF, then it's a bitch.
the B16 goes for anywhere between 1000-1800 depending on where you go. You could probably even find one cheaper.
the B18 goes from anywhere like 2000-3000 more or less. also depending on where you go.
Hope I helped a little.

you didnt specify the purpose for your new motor. If you plan on just drag racing, the h22 would be the best bet. If you plan on anything else, The h22 will be too heavy for hard cornering. Id go for the B18.

Well I think the best possible swap you could perform would be to put a B18C5 into your CRX. The B18C5 is of course the Integra Type R engine which puts out 195 HP. This is good because you can get the power of the H22 with the size of the B18 block which will be a much easier swap than the H22 would. That's just my opinion. Good luck with your swap.

The B18c5 is way over-priced, over-hyped, and over-rated. Also, it's (at the best) ODB1... I mean, hell it's not HARD to swap ODB0 to ODB1, just a few wires, but the total price of the thing after it is all said and done is rediculous. You'd be MUCH better off with a B18c1 that has ITR internals.... unless of course:
You have rediculous amounts of expendable income
You plan on road racing
And if the answer is #2, prepare to be beat down by C5 'vettes and Vipers, because a B18c5 CRX is in the Modded class..... and will get stomped.

B18 - It's worth it in terms of torque over the B16 as well as a hunch that you can get more power from one with the same mods as a B16.

Well it also kinda depends....... B18a/b vs B16a? All motor, the extra top-end, and Variabl eValve timing gives the smaller displacement B16 the edge, mod for mod. Forced induction is a different story however, as a boosted/blown/sprayed B18a/b will house the B16a due to the larger displacement, where the BIG hp adders tend to make a much larger difference, as opposed to the NA mods....
The B18c1 on the other hand, is just better all-around....

Thanks for the help. I was looking at both and the B16A SiR looks pretty good and a lot cheaper. ive looked at nippon motors and theyre selling it for about $1,000. Seems like a good deal to me. Does anybody know of any other sites or places that give good deals? thanks a lot.

How bad would an H22 be in a CRX? what does understeer mean? i really plan on going all drag in about a year, but would i be ok driving it for a year with the h22? what would i need to do to make the h22 work out good?

here are some good sites www.jdmhondaparts.com
www.hondamotorsonline.com
personally i would go with the b16a because i heard that the b18's are a risky swap and they just don't go with the car. if i find the site where i saw that then i will send it.

the H22 doesn't even fit in a CRX.
You have to cut/bend the frame and all that stuff.
Go for a ZC, B16A, or a B18A.

Ok, if i were to go with the B16A, i have three questions. At nippon they have a package for the engine, tanny, and ecu. they also have one without the ECU. would the engine have better performance if I got like a type r ecu instead? is this even possible?
My second question is do I have to get the engine with the cable tranny form 88-91, or could i get the engine from 92-up? will it matter?
and my third question is about how much should it cost to install the engine? and what things should i know about when trying to find someone to install it?

um it unsure about your first question but you are also going to need axles, secondly yes you gotta get the one with the cable tanny pretty sure and it will cost any where from 1000-1500 depending on where you get it done your gonna want a place that does honda swaps often and see if they have done the swap before one of the worst things can be is an inexperienced shop doing a hack job on your install

you just have to stand on the fender and get a body hammer to push in the wall or cut a hole, thats so the altenator will fit.

h22a would be beastly if you could somehow get it to fit.
but consider your handling...if you really like it now...don't even think of getting an h22 - it'll give you some nice understeer
i'm sure theres away to work around that....but it'll probably be some kind of expensive suspension change..
also think about your weight distribution...it'll change a lot.
anyway...if you can dish out the cash to get the equipment to work around those handling problems...i say do it..
it'll be one vicious piece.
if not...i say get a b18c5 - about the same hp as an h22a4 - but less torque.
