Instrument panel fuse access?

Looking in the owner's manual, there is apparently a drop-down cover to access the interior fuse box. However, I don't see such a beast. I popped out the swivel compartment to the left of the steering wheel, just above the coin holder. I can see the top of the fuse box, but don't see how the heck I can access the panel to see if I have a blown fuse.

What am I missing here?

look right under the dash on the drivers side

Left side of the steering column, correct? Again, I can see the top of the fuse box, but there is a large piece of trim that is in the way.
