(Pictures of the damage coming soon)
Well the little Category One Hurricane nailed Nine-One-0 Yesterday at 1pm. For such a small storm, the damage was amazing!
After I got off work, I headed down to the beach to see what had happened... While crossing the bridge, I neglected to put my windows down, thus the large gust's caught my Trooper and almost got put into the OTHER wall... On the other side of the street
Ok, so that woke me up. Now keep in mind I've lived in Wilmington my whole life, So Im used to Hurricanes.
Down at the beach, it was evident I needed to leave... Transformers popping every five seconds, windows shattering from the 90mph gust's. As I was heading home (about two minutes away from Wrightsville) I saw Road Signs blowing off their post's and into parked cars... So I grabbed a few :D
(Backround: My neighborhood is FILLED with beautiful Oak Trees... Very old)
Well driving through my neighborhood... I noticed most of these trees are lying on my neighbors homes... They survived through EVERY other Hurricane, Bertha, Fran, Floyd, Hugo... But this little shit of a Hurricane brought them down... What the hell?
A lot of neighbors are having their homes completely rebuilt... The damage is that bad.
... And to top it off... A large limb, fell on my project '90 Zed, that I failed to get under some cover. So now I have to do some body work... I HATE BODY WORK!
Anyways, the moral is, dont underestimate a storm, no matter what Category it is.
BLUCIVIC... Hope you got through it ok, and the rest of you who got some shit from Charlie.

Im saying it was small by the time it got to us... Like I said above... It was a Category One by the time it hit us.
I've gone through a Category Four, and a Five, and they are NO fun at all.
Read a bit more thorough next time...

it really doesn't matter, you're talking about the same storm.

Harris Teeter (where I am, and he is employed) is really helping him out... Supplies, clothing etc etc.
I think it's cool to see large business empires helping the little guys out...
Any other Motherlanders in this forum who got some damage?
(O and pictures are coming REAL soon... I sent my rolls to get developed... Yea Im old school when it comes to Cameras. Canon AE-1 bitches :D )

It's a shame there was so much destruction, but I'm glad no more died than there were. It could have been much worse.
I've got two cousin's that live in Ft.Myer's. They got off real lucky. No damage at all.

Hi Kate!, How do you like living on the coast? I'm thinking about UNC Wilmington for college, I realize Your on the Northern part of the state, and Wilmington is southern, but is living near the beach enjoyable?
I never realized we had so many North Carolinians on the boards...
I saw Road Signs blowing off their post's and into parked cars... So I grabbed a few
You can go to jail or that...

O dude Wilmington is AWESOME...
I love living in a beach town. Surfing, Skateboarding, girls... Got it all bro.
UNCW isnt a bad place to go to school. But im going to UNCC (Charlotte) for Architecture.
I would highly suggest moving to Wilmington... HIGHLY.
And as for the going to jail for picking up signs... Ummm... Why?

Taking road signs are illegal, if you get caught...
I'm also thinking about Campbell University, because their MBA program does not require a year of work experience to get the degree.
Anyway, The only good reason to go to UNCW beside from being relatively cheap, is that it is near the beach, girls, etc.
Only problem: I'll have to sell my Buick and get a convertable :(
*tman frantically searches ebay for a 1969 Buick Electra 225 Convertable*

I love to be on the coast. Its a beautiful place. The only thing I hate is you cant drive here on Saturdays or Sundays b/c of the traffic. It can take over an hour to get from the bridge to my house. But its a wonderful place. Up here there are wild mustangs on protected land and its just beautiful to watch them on the beach. I'd take the coast over inland anyday.

American weather...pussy weather.
Although, we are the ones to get the most tornadoes than any other continent on the world. It's pretty amazing.
You guys down in the Carolinas didn't get the worst of it. Catagory 4 hurricane at 145 MPH is strong enough to blow a decent small-midsize car even a light pickup truck off the road. So you're lucky you didn't get the worst of it.
Best of luck to all affected by Charlie.
Some of this weather, is just a storm chasers heaven. I can't wait to start my career in that.
