weird clicking in engine

i have a 2002 santa fe that i recently got from my grandma. I showed my good friend who knows a lot about cars to check the oil for me, and he did it and ever since, whenerver i start it up it makes this weird clicking noise.

The car never did it before my frined supposedly checked the oil, and now im worried. It has roughly 17000 miles and i cant for the life of me figure out what the hell it is. Can someone enlighten me on what it could be? help apreciated.

Alot of things can make an engine click. I don't think it has much to do with your friend, if he only checked the oil. I don't know what it could be, but just make sure there is oil in the engine. If its low, the lifters in the engine can be what you hear.


..and if its a 2002 with only 17,000miles.. take it to the dealer. It should be covered..

Did he add oil? Cause that could just as easily cause a problem. You need to check your oil when the car is cold...hasn't been driven in a while (at least an hour)
