Seeing as there have been many repeated questions/threads, here is a thread just for those types of posts.
I'll leave it open to the "RSX regulars" to bring up any questions they feel are asked too much.
Hope this helps...

1. What upgrades should I get for my RSX?
2. Does anyone else get gear grinds when shifting?

I don't have gear grinds and all that crap, so i'll just say this: There are tons of petitions out there are you aren't the only.
For the performance question:
Naturally Aspriated (no turbos/superchargers/NOS) the cheapest and best all around gain is:
-Injen CAI (intake, submerging the filter will cause the engine to seize, that is very rare, however)
-Hondata (ECU upgrade to change VTEC points, redline, etc.)
-DC5R rear sway bar (virtually elimates understeer)
-Race Headers (illegal becuse there won't be a cat conv.)
-Springs (tons of them out there with different heights and stuff)
-Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket (cheap and give a little bit of a gain)
Exhausts on the RSX will only really give looks and sound differences, not performance
Turbo:
Two major kits out there, GReddy and Cybernations. The GReddy isn't upgradeable, the Cybernations is upgradable to 700whp should you be that daring/insane. Get the Cybernations as it is slightly more expensive but offers a lot more expandability and customization.
Supercharger:
Jackson Racing is the only one with a SC for the RSX so far, although in less than a month we should see the Comptech (which will be warrantied by Acura if the dealer does it).
Get a turbo as its more expandability, much cheaper for the power, and as long as you don't put a jillion pounds of boost, it'll be about as reliable as a SC.

The "gear grind" many people are experiencing is due to the slight catch experienced when shifting from second to third in the RSX Type S. This transition involves shifting from triple cone synchros in second gear to double cone synchros in third. For some reason this transition is not as smooth as it should be. Although Honda denies any and all responsibility, this problem is far too widespread to be coincidental. As Canuck said, you can sign one of many online petitions, although it is not likely to bring about any changes. There is nothing "broken" per se, and therefore nothing your dealer can do to fix the problem. They will most likely deny there IS a problem to begin with. There have been sporadic reports of this problem occuring in base model RSXs, but not to the degree we have seen in the S.

I had some grinding issues and this seemed to work for me, I still get an occasional slight grind but its greatly reduced. Its on a si but it should be the same.

Hmm....thanks for the tip.......I will check it out, though I don't think there's much room to play with from the feeling I get with my clutch pedal. That is, it starts to "clutch" almost as soon as I put any pressure on the clutch pedal.

Would a flywheel be a good investment on an RSX?

what problems does the 1st gen have that the second gen does not have? ( if there is any)
Are they an easy fix if it does have some?

Are they an easy fix if it does have some?
Gear grind, slight dash rattle, cracking leather seatcovers and frequently blown headlamps are common gripes with first gen. The synchros can be replaced, the dash can be taped/epoxied underneath to fix problem areas. The seat covers can also be replaced. Haven't heard of any solution to the headlight issue other than conversion, so best not to buy expensive aftermarket bulbs.
