jet performance module

i was wondering if anyone has this product? Its made for people with OBDII computers who cant change the chip on them. I was thinking about getting one but i really havent seen much on them.

are you talking about the power control module? is so i got it on my camaro it worked real well. it was a real noticable increase in performance and made the car run a lot smoother. be warned though, it advances timing so you have to use higher octane fuel...

Of course you can change the chip with ECU:s that are OBDII compatiable (why shouldn't you be able to do that?), but in many cases you don't replace the chip itself, you simply load a different software into it through the serial port. Today even the car manufacturers updates their software and replace it on the cars if it's neccesary through the diagnostic computer. It's today possible to tune the car without even opening the hood.

I would however not recomment the use of a piggyback system like "jet performance module" as they can make it impossible for the ECU to control the engine safely. Newer ECU also tend to notice that is something wrong, light up check engine, go to limp home mode or don't start at all.

OBDII is just a communication standard regarding on board diagnostics. OBDII = On Board Diagnostics generation II.

ok well ive found out that jet does make an ECU upgrade, im not sure exactly what it is, i just started email jet, but apparently cavaliers with the 8th digit in the vin number being a T can have the ECU upgraded, jet has a dyno page for a 1997 cavy with a vin t "ECU upgrade" that gained 15 WHP. So im really interested in this product now.

As for piggy back systems, im gonna avoid that.

err well i just got an email back about what they can do for it, he tells me they have an jet control module. . . oh well. . .

i got the piggy back in my car and it runs perfectly fine. im not trying to convince you to buy it, im just letting you know that there are cases where they work fine...
