Someone with a red vehicle messed up the paint on the driver door pretty good. No denting. Minor scratching in the clearcoat. Left big splotch of red paint on the door. I've srubbed it with sponges and terry cloth... What else is there to try?

You might try a clay bar, like Meguiar's Quick clay. Don't use rubbing compound, because it will cloud the clear coat. Good luck.

I use 3M super fine rubbing compound on my black truck all the time and it works for minor scratches and water spots. If you run your fingernail lightly across the scratch and can feel it then nothing , But re-clearcoating it will work.

nothing wrong with using rubbing compound. Try number 3 - 3M rubbing compound. If it does not come off, then you can sand with 1500 and then rub out sand marks with compound.
