ok i got my boost gauge installed....now i have a small prob...it's telling me i'm pushing around 12psi of boost....this can't be possible considering i have no boost controller and a stock turbo...i made sure everything was connected correctly...what could be the problem?

thanks for the help

Its fine, mine is around 13 to 14 stock. I think most eclipse's are around 12 or 13.

have you removed the extra "ring" in your wastegate soleniod 97gstspyder?

nope i haven't removed anything...i was just wondering about this because i heared that stock t25's on our cars run 7-8psi stock i think...so you guys are sure this is normal? because even today i hit 500miles on my new clutch so i decided to get on it a little and my boost gauge jumped to 15 for a split second

its no problem. I posted something very similar to this thread a few weeks ago about creep. This will happen when you are not running a BC.

13-15 or wahtever is normal. a free mod you can do to get about 1 psi more is to remove a ring in your wastegate soleniod. heres the site http://eclipseworx.com/diy/bcs/bcs.html

Yes, anywhere from 12-15 is perfectly normal.

If you bought it used also the person before could of had one, thats what happend to me. Normal my friends gs-t and my friends gsx run around 6 or 8 psi.

Well your friend's cars must be fucked up, cause the lowest I've seen stock is 10 :)

where do you live. different elevations above sea level will boost different psi

guitarXgeek
08-15-2004, 10:02 PM
Well they must be atop Mt. Everest to only be boosting 6-8 psi! I could understand if it was 10psi +/- one or two, but 6-8?...

the WG actuator is a 7psi device. The stock BCS kicks it up to 14psi supposedly. If not, get a MBC and call it a day. You'll need it anyway.

yeah i was wanting to get a MBC...what's a good one to get? also, i took that Boost Control Solenoid Restrictor Removal and i noticed a very slight difference in the sound of the blow off valve...makes a little more high pitched chirp after you hear the PSSSSSHT, ahh it's hard to explain but it's sounds cool...i'll try to get a recorder and record it then post it.

There are a few options, covered by other posts I might add.. but JoeP is a common cheap one, and the greddy and apexi are good electronic ones. Don't ask which one is better, decide if you want to go all out now or go cheap... they do the same thing for the most part.

ive heard that the top dollar greddy is badass. very percise. holds it at what you want and doesnt mess around. however the apex is good too but its only drawback is that its not in psi. get the joe p for now its cheap and probably a used one is avaliable cuz people tend to upgrade from manual to electronic.

if most people tend to upgrade from manual to electronic then i might as well just save up for a good electronic one then...i don't think i can squeeze much more boost out of the stock t25 though can i?

Since you're FWD, then the Greddy profec-b will be better because it has a setting for different boosts for rpm's (helps with traction).

i think the rpm based boost is only for autos. i dont kno why somebody hasnt invented a "trigger" or sensor for manuals so that the ecu could acutally tell what gear your for a standard.

Do the dumptube cut... then the chirp will be gone and you'll open up your intake a little and get more of a wooooosh instead of the shiiiirp... personally I like the wooooosh better. VFAQ.com has the mod for the dump tube.....

yeah i already did the dump tube cut a while ago...didn't really notice any real increase in performance, but ever little bit helps. i still need to save up to get my body fixed :( front fender, part of the front and rear bumpers are messed up.

also forgot to ask...does anyone know of any good spots to hide the wires and stuff for gauges? right now it's a mess in my car.

Not necessarily. The Greddy Profec-B specII has rpm based boost that will help lots with FWD. It doesn't have to be an automatic, though :)

i have a gauge pod that covers the entire A-pillar...has 3 spots for gauges...but where's a good place to run the wires to keep them not visible?

ashah000
08-19-2004, 12:25 AM
behind the a-piller then there is a small area you can run the wire beside the dash from the top to the bottom just push the wire down then run the wire to where you need to. Hide it behind the carpet or the panels
