gts intake compared to gt

i was talking to the dealership and they said that the only difference between the gt and the gts was the intake manifold. he said that there is a flap that operates like a 4 barrel carb does when you hit the throttle hard and lets in alot more air. it's supposed to add like 10 hp. if this is true, can you simply swap the intake manifold from the gts to a gt? also, i've heard of gains being added to a gt by swapping the head from another engine. any info is helpful. just curious.

Swapping the head and intake manifold from te Mitsu diamante is the biggest upgrade. It has the variable intake runners, which shorten or lengthen according to throttle, and a large 65mm throttle body. As a comparison, the 03 Ford Cobra has a 70mm throttle body and pushes 390whp.

nice, if you don't mind explaining, how does variable intake runners opperate? also, is the intake manifold/throttle body a direct replacement (same bolt pattern, same harnesses for sensors, and same vaccuum lines)?

What kinda gains are we talking about? and how much? this would be a good upgrade for me considering i could probably talk them into keeping the factory warranty w/ this setup

No idea on gains, as this is usually done with cars that already have been supercharged or turbo'ed. Larger TB and intake runners allow more airflow. More airflow=more power.

The diamante intake has a larger TB than the GT-S.

The variable intake runners are long when cruising and accelerating slow. When you mash the gas, the runners get short and air is inducted faster.

so what years would the manifold off the diamante fit on an 01?
