Keyless Entry Pad?

My buddy just got a 2001 Crown Vic LX and was not given the code to the Keyless Entry Pad. He was told that the code to reset the pad is taped onto the "computer module" by the factory. He does not have the owners manual. Anyone out there know where to find this "computer module"? Or where this reset code is? Thanks in advance.

The computer module is inside the drivers door near the speaker. Of course, you have to take the door panel off to get to it. Although I have heard the dealer can obtain the 5 digit code by putting the VIN into thier computer, three (3) Ford parts deparments have told me this is not true. If you have the skill to remove the door panel, go for it. If you are unsure, bring it to someone else. Also, if you find the number is not taped to the module as it is supposed to be, you will have to bring it to the dealer and have it reprogrammed.

The procedures, once you have the code, are in the manual which can be viewed on line if you don't have one.

Lastly, if you are missing the remote control fob, ebay is a good place to find one way below what the dealer charges.

Open the trunk, and look on the driver side trunk hinge. You will see the number on a white tape on it.

I have heard the code is on the trunk hinge for some model years as noted, but it was not on mine unfortunately. I am also quite sure my trunk lid is original to the car.

Follow-up: I took the drivers door panel off and the five digit default code was right there. The panel was easy to remove and put back on. If anyone needs any help with this or more information, please feel free to email me. One word of caution: If you buy a remote control fob on ebay be careful as there are a lot of cheap copies. I suggest and OEM one, even if it is used.
