Equipment to Measure Compression Ratio for Diesel Engines

I have a very general question? It would be of great help if some one can reply me.

Can any body tell me what equipment is genrally used to measure the compression ratio of diesel engines.

Whether the said equipment can be taken to site. i.e. is it potable equipment and what size it usually comes in.

Can any body give me any references for manufacturers of such equipments and any web addresses where i can get this information from .

The comression ratio is a mathematical calculation, which is done when the engine is disassembled. It can be done using a micrometer, piece of flat glass and an eye dropper, capable of dispensing a measurable amount of liquid.

Did you mean to inquire about measuring the compression (cylinder pressure) of an engine? That is quite different than the compression ratio.
