Server Move Complete!!!!

08-14-2004, 12:35 AM
That took waaaay too little time!

Liam at Tiora Networks kicks ass! :grinyes:

I want to say that http://www.Dinix.com (http://www.automotiveforums.com/ads.cgi?http://www.Dinix.com) (our previous host) is an AWESOME company, with real professionals backing it. I strongly recommend them for anyone that runs a pseudo-large website that can be handled by one or two servers. At this point, they are not interested in dealing with the pains of having a network of servers however, and I totally understand that.

Another reason for this move to CA from GA is the locality - over 10% of AF visitors are from California, and having the server closest to the bullseye (in this case right in it) will help out the situation.

Please report any issues you experience on the website here and we will try to get them resolved ASAP!

Thanks again everyone for your support in making AF so great (and big).

Awesome! I'm glad to hear everything worked out smoothly. Hopefully this will speed up the forum for me too. :iceslolan

The 2nd webserver will be setup over the weekend, so right now we are actually on a setup similar to before. But come next week... mwuaha... aha... MWUAHAH.

08-14-2004, 01:17 AM
I didn't even notice the move how odd

Dang I am in georgia... Guess I will be screwed now

08-14-2004, 01:39 AM

Very impressive!!

08-14-2004, 01:43 AM

08-14-2004, 02:37 AM
Thanks Iggy, and put a pot of coffee on.

08-14-2004, 05:49 AM
California, great choice!

08-14-2004, 07:58 AM
Im tired guys but i think i have it all working. Let me know if you guys have any problems. :)

08-14-2004, 08:52 AM
Already ? wow I was sure the server would be down for days... nice move guys

08-14-2004, 04:01 PM
Sorry about the downtime this morning. All seems to be better now. Apache was being bitchy.

08-14-2004, 04:21 PM
not sure if it's me, but most of the forum image doesn't show (red X)

edit: nevermind, look like the server is overload again :(

08-14-2004, 04:49 PM
It's also deathly slow here in North Carolina. My browser timed out twice just getting to this page.

08-14-2004, 05:36 PM
...Apache was being bitchy.

What a surprise.

08-14-2004, 05:38 PM
This may be the smoothest transition AF has ever had. :sunglasse

Wow that took 12 hrs thats damn fast my dad did that with his network and it took 2 weeks lol.

08-14-2004, 11:14 PM
Hope the server have some problem, cos right now, it's very slow

I don't have the database error, it's just the forum that take between 10 seconds to 2 minutes to show a page

Page generated in 89.69580 seconds with 13 queries

I'm glad to see the forums back up so fast. But yeah it's running really slow for up here in NY. Guess it's better than server being busy all the time though; I have yet to see one of those messages all day.

08-14-2004, 11:48 PM
Idk, It's pretty peppy in NC now, oddly enough.

08-15-2004, 12:02 AM
The 2nd webserver is not yet setup, along with some configurations that have not been optimized on the current web and db servers. We hope to have everything smoothened out by the end of Sunday.

08-15-2004, 12:27 AM
Hey Igor,

Up here in NY, no problems except its running a tiny bit slower, but no server messages. So far so good. But one thing I have noticed is that the automotive magazine threads are very very slow to come up (up to a minute or more) and or post to. I do not know if they are on the same server as the one that was move, but just wanted to let you know.

BTW. That move was quick and smooth. I expected it to be longer. Nice going.

TS out

We are transfering all data from the webserver #1 onto the 2nd one. It should go up tonight, load-balanced!

I am very amazed at the performance of just one webserver so far as it is not only serving AF but also copying all the files, which is taking 42% of the CPU available.

08-15-2004, 02:33 AM
Geez that was fast! I thought it was going to be done for weeks!

08-15-2004, 04:15 AM
24hrs later and Im getting a perfect connection from way down this end of the world :)

Altough I can't connect to get me email?

08-15-2004, 09:55 AM
today, it's quite fast.. if it could stay like that, AF will be much more fun to visit

08-16-2004, 03:29 AM
The 2nd webserver has been in action since late last night, and so far everything is going quite well - VERY low loads on all servers. We are currently looking in to see if we can further minimize page load times.

08-16-2004, 11:14 AM
What is ourmax compasity now for members it used to be 200,000? How long till we change again?

08-16-2004, 11:34 AM
it has been running fast all the time here in kansas city. the transition did go well, i saw the message and i thought i was going to be without af for a while.

08-16-2004, 04:21 PM
Just now for about 5-10Minutes the there was a 500Error (Internal), and its going a bit slow.

08-16-2004, 04:36 PM
I had it happen to me earlier today twice. But not now.

08-16-2004, 06:11 PM
I've been getting that error for the past 3 hours now. Every other page I try to open i get the message.

08-16-2004, 06:35 PM
Still problems?

08-16-2004, 06:56 PM
I just had that problem for a minute or 2...strange enough I also got a message saying that my IP address was banned; hense the e-mail I sent you, but it seems to be working now...strange.

08-16-2004, 07:28 PM
Just now for about 5-10Minutes the there was a 500Error (Internal), and its going a bit slow.

yup, got that error everytime I tryed to come here today.
it's the first time I can enter

08-16-2004, 10:13 PM
I've been trying to get into the Automotive Magazine discussions and it keeps getting back the dreaded "page not found". the magazine itself pops up, but to go to the forum side to discuss the topic I get that message. Anyone else have this problem?

08-17-2004, 03:06 AM
I know exactly why that is happening. I will get to fixing that tomorrow - 3 AM here.

How do you guys like the load times now!?!? 0.3 seconds for me.

08-17-2004, 04:08 AM
Ok i just added 4gigs of ram and fixed a few network problems. Hows the speed now? :)

08-17-2004, 08:33 AM
i get about .5-2 second loading times!!!

08-17-2004, 09:41 PM
wow, fast move, and smooth surfin now. also seems to be less server overloads and server busy messages and that's awesome. way to go.

08-17-2004, 10:09 PM
I'd say its a-ok right now. Not problems tonight. Except it did piss me of when I accidently hit enter before typing my pass to log-in and have to wait 15minutes after one try. Other than that, its working excellently!

08-19-2004, 03:49 PM
workin jus perfec,enjoyin it!!

I have 1993 ford Ranger 4cyc 5 Speed and the gears won't shift. Tell me where the hydraulic
clutch resovior is located. thanks

09-19-2004, 02:30 PM
it is fast for me 22/7. before school in the morning, it is always going really slow (6:00 am - 8:00 am).

05-17-2005, 10:35 AM
I think this is where I post problems...I cant see anything, only Automotive Forums.com>AF in general>AF News>Server move complete, that Adds by Google box, and then the quick message thing, and nothing else. Am I the only one that gets this?
