I have a question to all street racers.when making your car faster do you usually put new engines in your car or do you keep the stock engine in there and and just put new intakes, exhuast, spark plugs,or pulleys.what is usualy better and more affortable

New enigne is better. But can be expensive. Using performance part's can help but if you dont have a good strong engine it could mess something up.

not many people do engine swaps for a street racer, thats more of the drag racers area. Engines arent cheap and neither is modifiying a car to fit it. Most people who street race start with a good car package. Z28s, GT's, SVT's, SI's, Type Rs, Z24, R/T, SRT, all the top of the line packages or performance cars to begin with. Then from their they modify them with performance parts, intakes, exhaust, turbo/supercharger, No2, pulleys, sparks, tires, suspension, clutches, all that fun stuff. Most engines are strong enough to handle alot more power with no engine work. Most stock engines can handle a small amount of boost with no engine mods.

More affordable option is all the aftermarket junk. Turbo/superchargers/No2 will give you the most bang for you buck. Intakes and exhaust help some, depends on engine in the car, the bigger the engine the more you will get from it.

Theirs also mods that dont give the engine more power, just help it put the power to the wheels better. IE light weight flywheels, light weight pulleys, suspension work, trans work, new tires.

The cheapest and easiest mod is weight reduction. I think its somewhere around for every 100 lbs you remove from the car will get you about .1 tenths of a second faster in the 1/4.

Theirs lots you can do, some are free, others are really expensive, its all up to you.

the key is to start off with a strong engine. If start with a V6 after you do everything to it it's still a V6 no matter what. So the stronger the engine the better the building block you have.
