to all the maxima lovers - which way is the best way to drive your max with the overdrive on or off- and which burns more gas

with it off it burns much more gas, so do not do it much unless you are "racing" or want some passing power. It keeps your car in higher revs so ti can access power easier

ManualMaxima has it just right. OD on results in better fuel economy but not as quick of acceleration. Turning it off locks out 4th gear so you've got a 3-speed.

yea...OD opens the higher gear and it shifts into it when ur at a steady speed so it saves gas, notice if u turn off OD when ur just driving at a steady speed it jumps up in RPMs and the car kind of tilts forward when u let off the gas? that is when it is in a lower gear..it is the same way in a 5-speed tranny
