total cost of ls1 swap

what would be teh total cost of doin a ls1 swap into a 89 iroc. including labor, the engine, and any other parts i might need. (driveshaft, ect...) would the stock tranny last a while, until i have more money for a t-56 and will that be enough for it, and how will the stock suspension do??? and anyone have a good place to buy it?? thanks for your help.

your suspension should be fine but i would get new struts... and i dont think the bolt patterns for the tranny are the same for a 80s sb and the ls1

stock trans of your car will not work, drive shaft will... Do it yourself and have much more pride in the car after you done as well as saving a ton of money... You could get a eng, trans, wiring harness, ecm, motor mounts, and trans mounts for around $2500 to $3000 with low miles from a salvage yard or eBay...

A guy over at thirdgen.org did an LS1/T56 and rearend swap and I think he got it done by Thirdgen Resource.

I think his bill was around 14k.

how much would it cost if i changed it to a lt-1

prolly around the same amount, maybe a little cheaper cause you can find an LT1 for less than an LS1. but i dont think it would cost 14k if you did it yourself, sure if someone else does the work, but yourself i would say around 8 or 9, maybe 10k...

if its 8k, then just put 8k into the stock engine and you can smoke any stock vette
