95 with 2.3 Check engine light came on and developed a dead miss. Checked and found no spark from either coil pack on #1 cylinder. all others are firing but #1 does not fire on compression or exhaust. I do not have access to a scan tool and was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction *****Thanks*****

I would try changing the coil that fires the intake side plug first. The exhaust side plug isn't supposed to fire on startup.
It might also be something specific to cyl #1, like the PCM or PCM wiring/connections. The harness that plugs into the coil carries the signal telling which plug to fire and when.

Update-problem found-Freeclimber was right, what I found was both coil packs were bad and neither would fire on #1. The thing is the coil pack for the exhaust fire had no noticeable affect on the performance of the engine. You could take it off and throw it on the ground and the engine would run just fine (not that I'm suggesting anyone do that) Anyway I went to AutoZone and they only had one coil pack in stock so I bought it ($48.95) and put it on the compression side and the engine runs just fine. I guess I should go ahead and change the other one someday, you know do my part to keep our air clean. Thanks for all the help!

Its not just the air, if you have a dead miss it will clog your catylatic converter, which could cause lots of problems and be very noticable.

The dead miss has been fixed, ginning on all 4 again.
