Hey guys, I'm new to the Toyota forum and I've got a question. My son is considering a used Supra with a "weak" trans. Does anyone know if there are any known problems for this year or is it something thats not typical for this car. It surges and occasionally slips until it warms up all the way. Thanks in advance for your advice.

There are no inherent problems with the A340e, it's actually a pretty tough automagic since it seems to hold 400hp pretty easy with just an upgraded cooler and some redline fluids. It could be old burnt fluid, and if it hasn't been changed in along time changing it now will have little effect, althought you could try putting new redline or royal purple fluid into it and see if it helps. Here is the TSRM so you can pull the trans error codes, could possably help...

My suggestion would be to have your son just keep searching for a manual, if he's inexperienced with cars and especially turbo cars I'd also suggest a N/A unless you think he's responsable enough to handle a Turbo. There are alot of MKIII's out there so just keep looking till you find the perfect one. I just saw your other post in the other section, I don't think you need two since it just gets confusing, you can delete your own posts. :)
