Hey fellow 3000GT-ers,
how's it goin'? Well, I have a 95 3000GT n/a auto (which kinda stinks... I would rather a manual), which, as I previously posted, had the typical timing belt slippage and valve destruction type problem. The mechanic dude is like: "minimum 700 on work, 300 on parts, etc., etc." Basically, this really sucks for me. Anyway, my dad suggested selling the car. How much do you'll think I would get for it? I originally paid 8500 for the car (it's in incredibly good external condition, but apparently it's a lemon inside... i've already fixed the tranny, replaced the battery, alternator, alternator belt, fan belt, falalala...). Do you think I would get like 7000 for it with the current problems? If I do, I can just go out and buy another 3000GT (hopefully a stick-shift). Or should I actually get it fixed? If anybody lives in the Louisiana area and wants to help me fix it, feel free... I'll even pay you (seriously, not kidding). I'm only 17, so money is not exactly free-flowing. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions or help.

Yeah, I too think you should fix it especially since you've paid 8.5K on it and put a lot of work on the car already. Did you know test drive it before you bought it? How many miles are on the car? Sorry about your car though....I know how hard it is especially when you're tight with money. :(

FYI: To the guy who lives in Louisiana, I took it to Aamco Transmissions (Metairie, LA), Shell (on W. Esplenade and Edenborn [Metairie, LA]), Premier Mitsubishi, and Scallan Brothers (on Veterans [Metairie, LA]). All of them are asking for nothing less than 2000 USD. Yes, actually, I did test drive it before I bought it. It's driven fine since I got it... it just has lots of problems. I'm still serious about anyone who wants to do the work, though. I'm willing to work on it with you and learn about it, too. If i do end up getting it fixed, I might just stick with it. I'm hoping that if it gets fixed, it'll last another 8 to 10 years (yea... maybe in lala-land!). Who knows? Darn! And I had big plans for this car too... I actually got quite a bit of money (well, enough for: an intake, filter, exhaust, spark plugs, wiring, new tubing, and some interior decoration... *sigh*). Well, you know, thanks to anyone who can help...

p.s.: I think if I ever get my car back... I'm gonna name it "Suicidal". It has a ring to it, what do you think?

I'm not in favor of naming cars, they come with names! If you go to the civic forum and look in the girl racers spot they like to name their rides .
