Got a nasty little bugger the other night, SubSeven. Took a bit of time to get rid of that sucker. But the good news is i finally got off my lazy ass (figurativley speaking) and got myself a freeeeeeking firewall and virus scanner.

Yeah, this was a little spyware guy that if i tried to delete it regualrly, would screw up my registry and whatnot. Manually going through ini files stinks yo. But it also gave me an excuse to clean up my system, prolly cleared out about a gig of space. Very nice.

So how do you know when someone has put spyware on your computer? I know they get put in my cookies, but where do you have to go to see you've been hit by it?

Go to www.downloads.com and search for adaware. That is a very good spyware search program.

I lucked out this time Kat, i was kicked off of mIRC, it kept telling me it had detected subseven on my computer. Apparently this guy kept trying to upload it to others.

Other symptoms of spyware would be, mouse moving on its own, mysterious deleting or appareing files, a sudden high rate of virii on your computer (if the spyware is user controllled, they can upload you even MORE virii, how joyful  )

Hmm thanks for the info guys. I am wondering if I got hit cuz I went to upload some files the other night...I use CuteFTP. When I tried to log on I got into someone else's webspace...that or they got into mine  It's a regular program, not a downloaded trial version. I just got a firewall program so I am goin to have Alex put it in hopefully tonight or sometime soon.

Our server in my house got hit with the Nimda virus a couple of months ago. It totally infected 3 of the 6 hard drives and gave some tosser full access to the server side. Our systems are secured but he did a fair bit of damage to the server. Thank god we were able to log him and I in return sent him a little care package back. He has not been back since hahaha.

I think anyone caught writing and/or distributing virii should be executed without trial.
