I've said it once - and I'll say it again - that car is an insult to the name - Skyline - No afterburners - its wrong.......

Yea we have seen that before. The news is breaking all over Japan that after the end of the R34 run the skyline will not be produced again, at least of quite a while. So rest your mind for now.

I don't see how this could be a smart business move for Nissan. Unless they are pulling in assloads of revinue from their Primeras and Silvias and other sedans. Were R34 sales that low? I'd be really suprised if they did their research and found that the projected sales for a newer improved GTR wouldn't be high enough. I think they need to work on getting a full fledged GTR aproved for sale here in the US for near the same price they go for in japan and boom, there is your demand. Then they just have to meet the demand, which is no problem. Either that or get the R34 in complience and keep running it for the US only.

I agree with Gonthrax. I can't understand Nissan's thinking either. I mean, taken by itself, its possible (although not guaranteed) that Skylines don't make Nissan much money.

However, I think Skylines bring a lot of racing heritage and prestige to the marque, resulting in stronger sales in all sectors for Nissan vehicles.

Like I said,

don't get it.:(

They sold a grand total of 20 brand new GTR's in November...and a whopping 23 in December. The GTR was dying. They're going to give it a rest for a couple years and bring it back....it'll have renewed vigor. The bright light is that when they released the Exit Edition...you know those special Nur's..... They sold all 1000 of them in a day. They're all gone. They'll roll right off the assembly line and into private garages.....

The biggest problem was Japan and the markets were flooded with skylines. Though not a lot were GTR's mostly because they are so damn expensive for Japanese cars. Hopefully when they bring it back it will rock on the way the R32 did.

Who knows mate, but hope and pray they don't kill the. It would be like Chevy Killing the corvette. Nissan needs to pull their finger out of their asses and keep the lower spec models going with the high end GTR still being made even if it is limited quanities.

Yup yup. Well it looks promising. Check out the "evidence" (lol) in What did Ghosn mean by this... Lemme know your take on it.

that skyline is just the sedan version. the coupe and gtr will be more aggresive.
just like the earlier models. the sedan skyline far less power and different styling. its just becoming more luxurious

But the V35 only comes in 4 versions, GT, GT-P, GT-S and GTe. There isn't a GTR model. The power is pretty even across the board with the VQ25DD producing 215hp and 275Nm from 2.5l of displacement, as well as the VQ30DD, with 260hp and 330Nm from 3.0l.

I read that Nissan were stopping Skyline production because Japanese emmisions laws were getting tighter and the Skyline would not meet the new standards, hence production would have to stop. They could put a new engine into it but it wouldn't really be the R34 GTR if it had a different engine.

It could be that the GTRs don't meet emmissions, but I would think that if they were before, and with a little bit of work could meet the EPA's standards here in the US that there shouldn't be a problem. Personaly I just think that they wern't making enough money from them and Ghosn decided to stop throwing money down a black hole and wait untill the revamped '04 model is ready for production.

They should make a version for the U.S. that's affordable. The new r34's are over 90G!! Little pricy for me. I would rather get an R34 GT-R and live in that then live in my apt.:ylsuper

I don't know for sure if the '04 model will be comming to the states, I think it will, most people think it will. 'can't say for sure though. If it does it'll probly be in the 40-50k area though.

in the states it'll be called the Infinit g35 I believe, correct me if Im wrong.... I think it is just a nicer Altima for the Infiniti Line-up... just like the G30's were Maximas basically.

I think the Japanese emission laws are a bit tighter than the ones in US.

They are now, hence the reason the RB's have been scrapped.

Thats the current skyline your thinking of, the V35. It's here as the G35. We are talking about the next gen of Skyline GTRs (If they keep the name the same, possibly R35, possibly just GTR) that will be comming around in '04.

I think even the old laws where more strict than the current US laws. I would expect a stock RB26DETT to pass if you took it to your local inspection station.

Interesting, must have been DOT making it so difficult to complience um then. Now that I think about it there is a ton of DOT stuff to be replaced, especialy on the R32s ie Bumpers, type 2 restrants, mirrors, ect.

What inspection station? Never seen such a creature. I live in kentucky, we drive trucks with no mufflers and cats :D :D :bloated:
