race pipes with emissions

does anyone know if in the state of NC you can pass emissions with a staight race pipe instead of a cat?

do you have to take your car every so often to get your car checked for emissions? if so, then it will not pass, if not, then your good

just learn to change out your test pipe and convetert out, and vice versa, and then just change them out when you have an emissions testing
