transmission debate

brief preface:
i recently bought a 1992 Honda Accord LX Wagon 2.2L F22A1 engine with 143,000 mile on it. the previous owner, a senior citizen who did not drive it rough, said he NEVER changed the transmission fluid. found that out after i bought it...my fault. runs decent, but has a slight slippage in first gear, mostly notice it after i make a 90* turn and press on the accelarator again. doesn't slip in most other cases. the trans fluid is brown and smells mildly burnt. i just spent about $1500 updating other neglected maintenance and damaged parts and have it running fairly well, except for this.
the dilema:
A. Should i have a routine transmission service w/filter change?
B. Should I have a transmission flush?
C. Should I have a transmission flush w/ filter change?
D. Should i leave it alone until the transmission get real bad and get a new/reman'd one?
E. Other___________________________
i have been reading different sources and talking to a lot of people and everyone gives a different answer or has a horror tale about flushes. first my mechanic said i should flush it. then i did some research and ask him again after telling him the things i was told. now he says leave it alone. another mechanic/shop owner said they are a big gimmick, no better the the cheap crap you can get in a bottle at a parts store. some say a flush can stir up crud that is stuck on the walls and gears afterwards and cause a complete failure after a few months. i have heard an arguement for all of the above services. just looking for more input.
let me know if you have had any luck with your transmission work and what you had done. i know what i would do if the fluid had be changed regularly as per scheduled maintenance guidelines, but with 143,000 mile on the same fluid, i would hate to make a mountain out of a mole hill by doing the wrong thing.

jeeze i have an 89 toyota tercel [automatic] and im preaty sure the transmision fluid hasnt been changed in my car for a while the previous owner [my mom] had it for like three years and never changed transmision fluid and iv had it for like a year and i still havent done it lol
i also would like to know if doing it now would do more damage than good?
my transmison fluid smells delightful though and it has a pinkish color....
do u think just because so much time has gone by i should still redo my transmision fluid???
to answer your question i think the time you should change it is when the fulid is brown and smells like burning i think its kind of like oil when your oil is dead black and gross its time to change it just like tranasmision fluid

change the accords tranny fluid, drive it for a day or so and change it again.... this will clean out alot of the loose crap.... see how it drives then, if its still slipping take it to your dealer and ask if they have a flush for it.... the dealership i work at uses BG flush machines and they seem to work pretty well ..... and honda transmissions dont have filters
