I had that same type of problem with my 94.. It was my ignition box the mechanic said and the liquid inside leaked out and shorted out my spark plugs and the wires... Was about $840... but your problem maybe different. Good Luck :smokin:

im geussing no one has an idea as to why itd be doing this? auto zone says it might be the oxygen sensor, and the dies when shifting is something wrong with the tranny, I need a second opinon that knows what they're doing

Alittle more info on your car might help a bit.
What size engine...
Milage...
When It dies.. does it run rough.. stumble, sputter...etc. Or is it like you're turning off the switch??
Have you checked the ECM for any trouble codes yet??? a bad O2 sensor would've definatley set a code before going bad. BTW.. engines will run without the O2 sensor.. they go into a pre programmed setting on the puter.
They will die if you're having problems with the TPS, IAC, MAF, ECM, CPS,.
Checking for trouble codes is the most logical first step. As that might identify a bad sensor.

Here is a possibilty, I have seen many 3.1 V6 that have a problem with the electronic harness which controls the passing gear, You can see when looking at the transmission from the front a square plug, try unplugging it then go for a drive, if this corrects your stalling then you have to replace the solinoid pack( with harness) it is replaced by removing the pan on the side of the transmission.
I have changed lots of these, if you call your GM dealer he will know what your talking about.
Good Luck!

you have a sticking TCC (torque converter Control) solenoid. IF you unhook the plug at the top passenger side of the trans like MrRob said, and it stops stalling, you found your problem.

This is the engine,
4 Cylinders 138 3 2.3L MFI SOHC QUAD.
Thanks for the info on the tranny I'll look into, but any links or anything on how to check those things other then the Onboard Computer, would be nice. (not talking about the tranny there)
