shifting

Hey this is a dumb question from a newbie but in Initial D, whenever someone shifts, it has like a deep distinct sound (if you listen you'll know what i mean) and I was wondering if thats what it sounds like in a real car when you shift at high revs. I was just wondering because my car doesnt do that.

That's called the BOV (Blow-off-valve). See the Version 3 Beginners's Guide I posted.

No im not talking about the 'pssh' sound a BOV makes. I'm talking about the 'thud' kind of sound in the gearbox when they shift in the anime. And don't blow-off valves only come in turbocharged cars?

They are supposed to be in turbocharged cars, but not in the game.
As for the anime, I don't think I can help you there.

I only know two things that go thud. The sound of your car hitting a wall or the sound of your car dropping down into the gutters.
Yeah, the PsSh noise turbo charged cars make is the only noise you'll hear when shifting.

i think the thud ur talking about is when a flame bursts out the muffler when they downshift. is it when their downshifting or upshifting or both?

metal clunking against metal is all they are trying to simulate with the gear changing stuff in the anime. NOTHING TO DO WITH TURBOCHARGED CARS.

I dont know about that. Only car that shoots fire from the exhaust is the EVOIII after the missfiring system. Thats always something cool to notice during a race. I wish they would make a more realistic racing game. With a clutch and everything.

yes but id is simple, that is why people play it over games like battle gear. add a clutch and e-brake the game would be a ton harder, and the game is pretty fucking hard as it is.

AHAHA! Sweet you know about battle gear too huh? Damn that game is the Gran Turismo of drifting games. You dont even have to drift. You could grip drive through the mountain passes on that game it could be Todoh racing school vs. Project D in that game. Hear about Battle Gear 3?

yeah but grip is a technique too, just like drift. none the less, id is based off a manga series not real life. i mean who in their right mind would actually think you can do the gutter hook technique in real life? so i like that id keeps it simple 'cause there are harder driving games that simulate driving but this isn't a simulator in the sense of car driving but its more like gran turismo it keeps an emphasis on line and breaking/speed balance.

Exactly, Todoh teaches professional grip driving. But, yeah I suck at that game. I crash into the walls slightly and your car goes 90 degrees to the right or left depending on the turn. Who knows if a gutter run is possible IRL until your try it!

Are you serious?? EVOIII's are not the only cars that shoot fire from the exhaust. It's caused by putting a straight pipe in replacement of the catalytic or by just hollowing out the catalytic converter....loser :loser:

you don't needa be an ass. he is talking about in initial-d, obviously... in initial-d the evo3 IS the only car with the anti-lag system.

Yeah. That was uncalled for. The EVOiii is the only car that can fire from the back. Cuz of the sexy miss-firing system. I think Im done talking here. Nothing new about shifting is being added.

Yeah man that clunk sound is real. In my old 300zxtt it made that little thud in the back when it shifted. Don't listen to these little 15 year olds on here who don't even have their license.

Why would you even post that here? You attempting to offend someone. We were talking about Initial D the game not real life driving. And no one cares about your 300zxtt. Jesus christ, in the game the cars do not klunk. The only noise you get from shifting is when you pull the nob hard enough for the plastic to hit plastic or when you shift in a turbo car. Thats when the BOV kicks in. So quit acting so childish and realize what were talking about here.

Akina the real question is: why are YOU posting? It seems you are the one who needs to realize what is being discussed here. If you read the original post, Crishpen asks whether some REAL cars made a distinct thud sound while shifting. I answered his question. Also, I included what kind of car I drove because he said his car doesn't make that sound and he might like to know which cars do. In reference to the bov remark you can read Crisphen's second post. It seems you came in here and started your own completely unrelated discussion.
