Water Pump Socket

Thanks to the contributors here who have already helped save me lots of $$$ with the DIY advice you provide.

I'll be replacing the water pump in my '98 Aurora this weekend...I ordered the tool online and received it today. Seems like a good quality item, nice and heavy. Got a great deal on it so I thought I would pass it along for anyone who might be looking to pick up one of these.

Is this something that is required for changing the waterpump? I have not looked at the assebly of the water pump. Doesnt it just have bolts like other cars?

I know Mac Tools has one, it was on sale a couple months ago for about $45! Glad I didn't buy then.

The water pump fits into the engine block on the drivers side. Just look for the belt on that side, it's the only thing run off it. It's held in there by a big lock nut with some teeth things around the bottom. You basically have to turn everything- presumably using the special tool. It might be possible to get everything moving with a regular socket and something else wedged in there, but it'd likely be easier to buy the real deal or see if any auto parts stores have a loan program and carry one.
