I Have A 91 Dakota Sport Regular Cab With The 5.2, And When I Turn The Headlights On In A Couple Of Minutes They Will Start Flashing On And Off, It Is Weird Because The Running Lights Work Fine, AND THE BACK OF THE WIRING HARNESS THAT CLIPS INTO THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH HAS ONE TERMINAL THAT IS SEMI-MELTED, I HAVE TALKED TO DEALERSHIPS AND THEY THINK IT IS OVER DRAWING CURRENT BUT FROM WHERE, THEY WERE FINE A WEEK AGO,IF ANYONE HAS SEEN THIS BEFORE OR HAS ANY IDEAS PLEASE HELP. Well, the closest I have personally come to this was and old '90 Chyrsler New Yorker. They didn't flash, but one, usually the passanger side, would shut off compleley, then come on miles down the road. We never did fix it. Just lived with it until we traded it in. Now, the '99 Dakota I had prior to '03 I have now had a multitude of electrical problems that no one at the dealership could seem to solve. They eventually became so bad that I had to trade the truck in. I went trhough four batteries, lost my hazzard lights, rear brake light bar and my brake lights. I have heard from other people that Dodge is sort of known for having electrical problems, and shortly after trading mine off, I got a recal notice about electrical problems. Long story short (too late), I would check it out with some other dealerships/garages. See if they can find a short or a grounding problem or something.

Had a Ford that did the same thing. It was the headlight switch. The melted spot may indicate a problem in the switch.
