Is the 4.8L a 283?

When I do the actual conversion, it translates to 292.914 cubic inches. I'm just curious as to whether the 4.8 is a new engine, or the old tried and true 283...thanks

its a new engine size...much like people thought the 5.3 was a 327, but its actually a 323.

Hey Jayson, Glad to see you got your truck running again. Hows the new engine doing?

Even for an engine with 55K on it, this thing runs goooood. MUCH better than the original engine ever did. I had a small coolant leak the week oafter the engine was put in, but all it turned out to be was a loose clamp.. I'm giving it a month or so to see how its going to act then I'm ordering my Nelson tune!! I've heard soo many good things about them.

Thanks for asking man..It was a process I NEVER want to deal with again lol
