Escort Won't Crank!!! Sometimes

Hello,

I have a 98 Escourt, Sometimes it won't crank as it if the not there.. Relays are heard clicking... starter's been changed(Ouch!) same problem...Suspecting a disabled but not removed Factory alarm system... the Ignigon Sw or any relays in that system. Any feedback would be helpful

try new battery I had that one time and the battery had an internal short.

Is it a straight stick or automatic?
The manual tranny has a safety switch at the clutch and the auto has a nutreal safety switch.The problem may lie with one of those.

make sure connections to your battery terminals are clean (terminals and clamps both) and tight.

Ok, Tnks For All The Input.. Battery Was Tested And Subed Too.. Cables Clean And Tight, It A Automatic..starting To Suspect The Ignition Switch Is The Culpurt. Jigging The Key Why In The Crank Postion Started It On Last Three Trys While It Was Acting Up. Can I Test That? I S Replacement A Pain?
I Don't Have The Chilton On It Yet...
