oil filter stuck

my oil filter is ripped off and the thread remains in the engine. what do i do?

Can you get a visegrip or a small pipe wrench on the outside of the filter nut?

If the filter gasket/cover is still on the engine, try to pry it away from the block to allow it to release more easily.

good luck - stuck filters are not much fun!!!!

You can also try a hammer and chisel, to try and spin the remains of the filter off. Dont damage the engine block surface, though.
