My boss the idiot.

I hate my boss. Plain and simple. He's an idiot who dropped out of college to try and front a failing-as-it-was rock band, and now works as the detail manager of a car dealership. All this and he's only 20 (well, will be on the 13th of this month). I have compiled a list of what it is about him that pisses me off and why. Here it is:

1. He's a hypocrite. I could be standing there looking at something and he would say "get to work, you aren't getting paid to stand around" and then he'll just lean on the wall while the rest of the guys and I bust hump. Is this fair? No. "But he's your boss" some of you will say. So? Does that mean that he can't help do the work given to us? No. He's supposed to lead by example, not have double standards for himself.

2. He's dumb. The kid said "yeah, I would like to get into radio and run my own radio show." An admirable goal, yes? So, I mention to him "well, I'm sure you could get into the local Community college and take courses for it. "Nah man, I don't like school." Right, you're going to achieve so much by just expecting it to happen. Who the fuck needs to know what they are doing? Hell, he even told me once that he doesn't know what he's doing NOW, as my acting manager.

3. He's immature. Just today is a prime example. He gave me the option of working until 6 tonight or leaving at 5 like I always do, deep down hoping I would chose 6 because his girlfriend is in town and he wants his ding-dong played with. Well, I'm in the middle of a move right now. My house is needing to be emptied, and we have to be OUT by the 17th. Yes, that's right, next Wednesday. Anyway, I tell him later in the day, that I'm going to leave at 5. He gets pissed because I'm not doing what he would prefer, even though he gave me the option. So I'm like fine, whatever, and I leave. Not 5 minutes after I'm gone, he calls me, and says "Just so you know, you should enjoy your day off tomorrow and come to work Thursday prepared to work, because I'm going to bust your ass with work, hard, all day long. You and only you. And if I want you to stay to 8 with me instead of you leaving at 5, you WILL stay until 8, no questions asked. I just thought I would let you know that." and then he just hangs up on me. Does anyone else see something wrong with this? He's pissed because I took my given option so he's going to slam me with work because of it. Not only that, but he's aiming it ONLY at me, clearly singling me out.

4. He's not respectable. That's pretty self explanatory. He wants respect, but doesn't give any to anyone else. He walks around like a little bitch hiding behind his position. I've questioned a decision before because I thought it could have been handled a better way and he said "would you like to go out and pull weeds the rest of the day? Didn't think so. We do it this way." What's funny about this is, I'm 4th man down on the totem pole, yet I get more of my superiors coming to ME than HIM to do things because I don't talk shit about them behind their backs, and I do things right and let them know of any problems and what not. His boss has more respect for me than for him. How do I know this? The way he treats me as opposed to he way he treats him. The big guy wants something done when he comes to me, I do it and get it done. What does my boss do? He bitches about having to do it until it's done and bitches about it after we've started on something else. He badmouths his boss behind his back, talksback to him and all kinds of shit. He does all this to the man who signs his check.
I'm going to say this, and I am saying it without ego, but I know that I could do a better job than he does at being the detail manager. I have respect from many of the other managers, and I deal with things the way they should be, not bitch at them because I don't necessarily want to do it. Hell, a monkey could do a better job than my boss, and that's what pisses me off. He thinks he is the shit when in truth he's got no respect from anyone. We had two people quit recently because they were tired of his bullshit. Guess who worked his ass off for 2 weeks while replacments were founed? Jon did. 97.5 hours in 12 days of work. Some of which were nothing more than me and another guy when it is usually 5 people. This guy (my boss) was my PEER no more than 7 months ago, and got the position by technicality. Yet, somehow, now that he's there, he thinks he knows SOOO much more than the rest of us.

5. He's a bitch. Yes, that's right, I said a bitch. Do you know what he does when he gets angry? He doesn't talk. At all. To anyone. I've asked him questions on what he wants me to do next and he's said "fuck you" to me. I about left that day, but stayed because I needed the money. Came into work one morning and said "good morning" to him, and he said "shut the fuck up and don't talk to me" because he had a bad night. Yeah, that's a good boss right there.

I don't know, some of the older members will most likely read this and say "he's you're boss, and that's how they are" but I guarantee you, if you worked under him, you would knot what I mean. Ask Z28Josh, he used to work with me. He'll tell you pretty much everything I just told you in this post.

Anyway, I just wanted to blow off some steam.

why don't you sit down and talk to his boss about it? Or sit down and talk with your boss about it? Tell him what you don't like as well as what you do like about him. may help.

Speak to the supervisor, ask him to go for a coffee with you or something. Explain in a clear and concise manner what the problems are in the shop, how he is losing money and employees because of it, and that it is killing overall work morale.

When he asks you, "And what would you have me do about this?" ... he will, because bosses tend to do that, be ready with a sensible response. There's nothing worse in a situation like that, than saying "I don't know". Know what route you're going to take and stick to it. Have a game plan. You may gain an allie and set yourself up for good things in the future.

Beware! If you feel unsure about this, think twice. Coming off as a complainer isn't what you want. Coming off as a know-it-all isn't good either. The goal is to gain respect. Choose your words carefully.

Yeah, seriously go to the head guy and tell him whats really up. If things work out, YOUR boss gets the boot and you get the h00t. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/biggrin2.gif

Bingo. If the head cheese figures you're more responsible and more capable as a leader, you're set. He may already sense that this guy isn't working out (or working for that matter), but if you mention it to him in a dignified, responsible way it may verify his thoughts by knowing his employees think the same way.

Good luck!

As I see it, you have 4 options.

1. Kill him.
2. Maim him to the point he has to leave his job.
3. Get him fired. Be creative.
4. Rock up to on the next morning you have to work, walk straight up the boss above this guy, tell him you're quitting right there and then and why. See what happens - you'll either see an improvement in your situation, or you'll never have to deal with assclown #1 again.

1. Don't go over his head without first talking to him about it, that is what his superior will tell you that you should have done if you do.
2. Don't bother, get a new job.

Yeah, I'd talk to the supervisor or whoever is in charge of him.

Yeah, I'd talk to the supervisor or whoever is in charge of him.
...after you discuss it with him first. Sometimes you have to cut through red tape to get the superiors to listen

Talking to Dusty about his problems is like trying to talk to a brick wall. He shuts you out immediately because he's afraid you might be right.

Now, if i still worked there when he became boss i would have by now either-

A. Beat the shit out of him outside of work(which has already almost happened once anyway, Jon you were there)

B. Talked with Mr. Weber or Mark(the two head honchos)

C. I would probably have the job if i had still worked there actually

But Jon is leaving for college in a few days, so once he leaves he can tell Dusty how he really feels about him. :2cents:

Yeah, my last day of work is this Saturday, which means as soon as I clock out, I'm done. What sucks is, my main boss, Mr. Weber, is awesome. If more places had a boss like him, they would be great. He could sell a 100lb bag of sugar to a diabetic.

But, that's the way the cookie crumbles. Dusty can go on thinking he's doing a good job, and when the time comes for someone finally crack, he'll have never seen it coming. I'm done worrying about his ass.
