Did I buy the wrong amp?

I got an 800 watt 2 channel amp to power 2 800w 12 inch subs. Im now hearing I should have gotten a mono channel amp to power both my subs. Did I fuck up? Someone said I wont get as much power to each sub with a 2 channel so is this true and if so can I wire it in a way I will be able to push half to one and half to the other? Any help please im an audio newb.

Im sure we can wire your setup to sound good. What kind of amp and model is it? What kind of subs and are thay dual voice coils? let me know and I will tell you how to wire it for good sound

bridge your amp and run 1 Positive wire and 1 Negitive wire into your sub box. Now take the positive wire from the amp and hook it up to the positive terminal on sub#1. Next run a positive jumper wire from that same terminal and connect it to the positive terminal on sub#2. Now repeat this process for the negitive wire. So far we have powered one voice coil on each sub. Next take sub #1 and run a very small wire from the open terminal from pos. to neg. and repeat this process for sub #2. now you can screw your subs down and turn it up. Do not try to wire those subs in series or you will wreck that amp. Good luck

sofast- wow, that was confusing to read, but basically, from what i can read, you've got the subs in parallel, with each voice coil in series? so he should end up with a 4-ohm load (assuming each coil is a 4-ohm coil) for the amp? or do you want him to only use one voice coil on each sub? just looking for clarification for myself.

Oh cool that makes me feel better. I mean I dont need the hardest hitting shit out there just enough to pack a punch in my little hatch. Should be just what im looking for.

even if you were trying to pull too much power from the amp - i wouldn't worry about it. audiobahn speakers are way overrated for power, meaning they never put out as much as they say they do. but they are cheap
