EGR sensor warranty?

Hello all!

Extreme newbie here. I have a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT. The Check Engine Light has come on, and I've had it in the shop. The mechanic said the code it's throwing is either P0402 or P4202 (can't remember). The EGR regulator has been replace, the system was "cleaned" and the code cleared to the tune of $300, but the light came back on a few days later. Now they are wanting to replace the EGR valve itself and/or the sensor because the code is the same as before.

Googling for some info, I found this forum. I'm seeing several posts regarding the EGR system parts and that Ford may have "extended the warranty."

Is this true?? Could some of my repair be covered by any Ford dealer??

Thank you for any help!!!
