sketches- please crit

Hey everybody, had a bit of spare time, so i whipped up some 15-20 minute sketches. These are done out of my head, except I had a model as reference for that S7.

I'd appreciate some critisism.

wow they really look good! i like the first one alot, but the saleen looks wierd in the back, but in all they look great.

Yeah, they looks nice... Shorten the back of the saleen and you've got a winner...

generally, they're good. i'm tired right now. so i will not fully go into it. top car is great.
next: porsche ellipses fked up, otherwise good.
3rd car: wtf, interesting idea, front glass too narrow, ellipes a bit too small but drawn excellently. do this with the porsche! umm. still on 3rd car: is too nubby/short wheelbase-wise.
4th car: le mans?, pretty cool, rear end is wtf? you got sixty extra feet on the rear. lop off about fiftynine feet from rear. then you got it.

overall you are much, vastly, improved from your last sketches you posted. i remember those.

soon you can do sketches like your hyper-real drawings. i feel it.

bonz: the 2nd car... whats wrong w/ ellipses? Shape, degree or camber/angle? I'm guessing all three.

Im going to keep on posting these every once in a while. Hopefully, I'll improve over time.

and yeah, the S7 does have a big rear

2nd car: camber front too neg. back too posi. rear wheel too small for amout of recession into distance. make larger.

1st one windshield is off 2nd one front bumper...hmmm generally perspective isnt right on most if not all...i dont know why but i find when i teach my students i find they do fantastic when they draw while looking at objects but not when given a blank sheet of paper

his perspective is not as off as you make it sound. some details are off. he generally understands the perspective.

it is easy to look at an object and draw it because the artist is tracing it, actually. blank paper is from imagination only.

the only reason im being a bit harsh is because his other work seemed great ..but all of them seem to be following your tutorial on perspective..dont take it the wrong way but i would like to see more different angles

The Third car I am not crazy about... The rest look fine.

The angles should be a bit more extreme with the Saleen. It looks as if it is being pulled. Fix that and its a good sketch.

Not bad sketches over all...

i understand. his other work, the tight color stuff, is created in an entirely different way than this freehanded stuff. he is discovering the
difficulty in the invention of the entire car and scene from nothing. alex is a great rendering machine. there is no question about that. this stuff here is a different planet for him. hehehehehe. :smokin:

These freehand, no reference sketches are a nice break from my long 15 hr drawings. They're also the best and probably the quickest way to learn the "anatomy" of cars.
