The 1999-2000 Civic Si is the best one overall.
Its faster than any other Si model, even if the 02-03-04 dudes say their "torquey" 2.0 engine can beat the past Si its pure bullshit. They always test 8.0 flat 0-60mph 16.0 1/4 mile, whearas the 6th gen Si tested 7.1 and 15.6.
The new Si looks real bad, like a minivan stumbling on little shoes. The interior of the 02 is nicer though.
Tuner potential...debatable.

It depends on what you want to use it for. So far for Autocrossing it has been the 1989-1991 Civic Si. Can't beat lightweight and able to put the power down with no problems. I have the 2000 Honda Civic Si and I get slaughtered every event by one of those cars.
2050lbs versus 2712lbs (my car is at 2450lbs right now). 100hp versus 160hp.

seriously why does the 6th gen si weigh that much? hy hx weighs like 2400 or less, youd think that the "Sportier" model would weigh tons less

whoa the 02 civic si really clocks at 16.0...i thought there were at least at 15.6 with a decent driver...well that explains alot! and they do look like vans until there dropped

The HX motor weighs about 50-100lbs less. We have heavier wheels and tires, sway bar, strut bar, sunroof (extra 50-60lbs right there).

I have a friend who has a 2002 or 2003 Civic Si with the Hondata ECU and ran a 14.8 or so. Not bad for $200.

"96 to "98 there not the fastest but as far as sleekness and body design they are sooo smooth, minus the bodyline above the doors, all the new ones look like little ugly space ships. and the taillights are hidious.....yuck ...98 and down and scrap the rest
