Hey everyone I'm new on the forums and just bought a red 93 3000gt SL with an auto transmission. I'm so pumped. Anyway I'm hoping to get some responses on some questions I had and advice on what kind of cars to try to race with an automatic transmission. :sighs: Thanks for the help!

I would have gone for it if my mom weren't there and there was less trafic. I don't want to ever race with another person in the car, I can decide if I risk it but I don't want to endanger anyone else.

racing is fun if you keep it on the track or in an empty warehouse district.
good to hear you have joined the DSM community, welcome aboard :D

3000GT (and Stealth)is a cousin to the Eclipse/Talon/Laser. they all came out of the same production plant in Normal Illinois(as so im told), so I have always called them relatives :D

yup, the DSM cars came from Normal Illinois, the 3000GT was imported from the plant in Nagoya Japan, the Stealth I'm not so sure about but according to 3si.org, it too was built in Japan. and we are all one big happy family, no?

3000GTs are not DSMs, which is why they are referred to as Japanese supercars. DSMs are only referred to cars assembled at the DSM plant which were only the eclipse/talon/and laser. The 3000gt and the stealth were both made at the same place, they were actually from japan, so they are not the same as DSMs. 3/S's had nothing to do with the DSM plant.

i dont feel like starting a dispute here but i will sum it up to the best of my knowledge
Chrysler made the dodge stealth and Mitsu made the 3000gt. when chrysler and mitsu started their joint venture(diamond star motors) they made the eclipse, talon, stealth, 3000gt, and the VR4 Galant. hense giving them all the same mother and father with means they are in the DSM family. without DSM, there would have never been any of the cars mentioned above
there are quite a few DSM websites that will back up what i typed
ps, trying not to stir up shit im just passing along information :D

Chrysler made the dodge stealth and Mitsu made the 3000gt.
once again, not trying to start an argument, but I was under the impression Mitsu made the car and sold the plans to chrysler and after they played around with the styling(rather poorly IMHO) they sold the stealth. Might have been a joint venture...but I really don't think Dodge actually made the Stealth...just styled it.

diamond star motors. the eclipse, talon, laser.
A joint effort by Mitsubishi (three diamonds) and the Chrysler Corporation (penta-star) to build some of the most incredible automobiles in the world. The vehicles were produced with the names Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Plymouth Laser. DSM cars are assembled in Normal, Illinois. The '94-and-up Mitsubishi Galant is also assembled at the DSM plant in IL; previous Galant's were assembled in Japan. The Eclipse and Galant (since '89) share the same platform.

Nope no mods. :(. I'm looking to get an air intake tho. And I bought euro headlights cause my dad thought that I'd be able to see better at night with them and it turns out that whoever owned the car before me I guess tried to take off the metal retainer holding the headlight lense in on the driver's side and stripped the bottom two screws. So a 20 minute job to change the assembly turns into a nightmare. Any suggestions would be appreciated very much! Thanks!
