So yea, today I was putting a few neons into my car when I went back inside to get a diff drill bit. When I got outside my car was gone....... went down the driveway destroying itself in its path. door was open, hung up against my lamp post and ripped the door clean off, then further went into the street and slammed into my mailbox across the street. WOW! no more driver door and back bumper damaged badly. Luckily me and my dad got to maaco and got an estimate. I guess the car's ebrake wasn't all the way up even though I was working on it for awhile with it up with no problem? ....its a mystery?

$1800 for brand new stock OEM door, brand new backbumper, hammer out dents in fender and remove a deep scratch on the passenger door. Also, painted entire car with the supreme 2 base paint.

Do you think this estimate is worth it? the car is a 97 cavi z24 and has 120k miles on it. If I get this thing done I want it to at least last till 180k before getting rid of it. You think this repair is worth it or should I junk it and pick up a 99 cavi stock 5spd for $4200? I already put a lot of work into my Z tho, so i dont know, give your opinion, thanks.

This is just my opinion, and I am not even close to being an auto body expert. To me, $1800 don't seem that bad of a price for the work that needs done. I guess it just depends on how attached you are to the car. Also, how many miles does the 99 cavi have. If it was me though, I would keep the current car and get it fixed.
It's funny though, because I did kinda the same thing a couple days ago. I was putting a cd player in my car. To make along story short, I had my car in neutral (5 spd) with the ebrake pulled. I went in the house for 5 seconds and when i came outside, my car was in the neighbors yard, up against their porch. The only thing that got damaged was the driver's side mirror. (Hit the neighbor's mailbox). I got lucky.

Have a nice day. Nice car by the way

was a nice car... I would get it repaired and you may be able to do the back bumper by yourself.

i dont know, i was just a little reluctant to put 1800 into a car i bought for 3500 completely stock. One thing that really wants to make me keep it is all the upgrades and mods i've put into it - that was about 2000 worth of parts and labor. thanks for your opinions guys - I know I am going to get the repair done now - now all I have to do is pray it lasts me about 50k more miles! Then ill get my full satisfaction from it.
