does anybody know what a ranger 3.0l would sound like with dual straight pipes. I am just curious. Also would it do any damage to the engine with the change in back pressure?:iceslolan

you my friend, are a true dumbass. First, you post an utterly useless and smartass comment and you dont even follow it up with some any kind of advice or legitimate input. Second, I dont think you own a ranger 3.0. even if you do, im willin to bet it doesnt have dual straight pipes. What kind of shmuck deals with all the server bs and evreything else just to type in "a pissed off bumble bee". So before you go any further, I urge you to shut youre mouth, youre ass, and whatever else youre talking out of.

To the matter at hand:
It sounds surprisingly good. below 2k, and it rumbles like a champ. Go with a small pipe diameter tho, or else you will lose backpressure; which in turn steals away torque.

Thanks, i hate dumbass remarks like that when I am asking a question.
What diameter would you recommend. I think the original pipe on it is about 1 7/8" or near that would you recommend staying with that diameter?

The man asked what it would sound like, and I gave my opinion. I didn't make it personal. I didn't call anybody a dumbass. Here is another opinion if you can handle it. The only thing straight pipes sound good on is a V8.

I apologize for calling you a dumbass, that was a mistake. I was having a very bad day. But anyway, i guess when i think about it it probably would sound a little to much like a pos rice rocket.
Thanks anyway for your reply.:smokin:

I don't think it would sound like a piece of rice... My old ranger had a 2.9 and i just cut off the muffler and all the piping back and it sounded good. It had a little of a honda sound to it, but that was only because the sound resonated from all underneath the car (there was no exit except where the pipe ended underneath the truck). If you had it piped out the back or side, you would get a very nice, deep, and loud sound.... If i could do it with my new ranger i would....damn laws.

You'll loose h.p. with true duals. You're gonna screw up the scavanging effect because you're loosing too much back pressure. They sound neat though. My 2.9 has Pace Setters Ying into a DynoMax Super Turbo dual outlet muffler. Sounds mean @ 3,500 RPM VVVRRROOMM!!!

if youve got a 4 cylinder, just run one single pipe, if 6 or 8, run two pipes but use cats for the back pressure needed

Weird, I've heard people not seeing any difference between having a cat and not having a cat. I am not sure though man, not sure.. You won't loose an incredible amount of horse power, but I know the scavanging effect is important. I have PaceSetter Headers that Y into a test pipe that goes to a dynoMax Super Turbo dual outlet muffler. I just totally redid my engine and threw it all together so I have no idea how it would run right now with the stock exhaust...
